SMG is giving me some trouble. Also, chasing a vacuum leak somewhere as I'm getting a 174 error code.

Replaced SMG relay with two different new ones. Problem still exists. Once car gets hot, stop and go traffic/non-freeway driving, it slips into neutral and won't go back into gear.

Getting a low pressure code from the SMG. Thinking the pump can't keep up when it is warm.

My luck is seriously bad. I've been doing a good job on the good karma angle to life and still getting $#% * around by these damn bimmers.

But when they work, all these headaches are worth it.

            This is too true.

I have had many instances where I have thought of getting out of the car-hobby all together from frustration of working on things and dwelling too much about the mountain of receipts that would exist if I didnt immediately throw them away.

When its back together and im driving, all is well in the world.

This has been in my living room for a month...

Not driving the M3 much due to the SMG pump loosing pressure (I think), just random beat runs around town which have been a blast. Waiting for time to install the new pump and coil overs.

Got the intake manifold off and starting disconnecting the "new" smg hydraulic lines... need to pick up an 11mm line wrench.

Dunno if you have already but consider getting the reinforcements for the rear spring perch from rogue engineering. Can try garagistic at a lower price. http://www.rogueengineering.com/Rogue-Engineering-Rear-Spring-Perch-Reinforcement-E46_p_124.html

That's what all the Internets say...

I was able to get all this done today due to having my wife ( business partner) and associate outside with me. They had the laptops running and I was dictating emails and working on follow up for 7 hours. Between the 3 of us we got a ton done, be it work and bimmer!

                                      Dyno is very frightening actually.

what are we going to do to celebrate the impending successful SMG repair?

SMG seems to be working perfectly!

Now chasing codes 174 and 175. Pre-cat O2 rich codes. After sitting all night it does not start on the first crank. Turn off key and retry and it starts. Leaky injectors?

I can't remember if I swapped over all injectors from the old motor or just the #6 injector.

Celebrate? Might buy me an engine stand!
