Being a low torque application I will stick with heli-coils. If it were head bolt threads in an aluminum block id definitely consider the timesert. Thanks for the mentions though

Good luck. If the helicoils give you trouble, keenserts (or timeserts) will be there for you. I had about 50% success rate with helicoils in the same application (aluminum head, low torque fasteners to secure the cams) before being shown the light by a friend.

Coolant pipe adapter installed. I went with the overpriced one from Turner rather than the overpriced one from Achillies or making my own. I like the fact that this kit comes with a popsicle stick and DOUBLE/BUBBLE brand 2 part epoxy.

+1 for using a time-serts, a much better option IMO. I would think you of all people would hate to do something a second or third time.

Really I have used 1000's of these without issues on low torque applications. Just make sure the STI tapped hole is clear of chips before installing.

As soon as I realized I had a problem the devil whispered that in my ear. Alas, I did not yield to temptation.

Old oil pump shaft pressed out and thrown in the garbage.

New "upgraded" oil pump shaft pressed in. In the second image you can see why the new one is an upgrade as It gets rid of the undercut required to make the splines.

To be fair, the method shown in the instructions is a pretty inaccurate way to use calipers.

Measuring off the back face of the rotor made it easier for me to be square and consistent in measuring. +10 internets for catching that though

I installed my 2 helicoils. The cam trays are no fun to install. I am using a folded over strip of tape to keep the lifters from falling out but it looks like I will need to resort to using magnets.

                                        I have so much sweat

Assembly lube fixes the issue of them falling out.
