Neenah/Appleton area. 3 hour drive for you mang.

ALSO, found out what the problem was on the E28 finally. WHEEL BEARING :(

$100 in parts. And of course, a super special tool ($400 tool) is needed to do the replacement... Awesome. Fuck me right.

$100 in parts? Do you know what Rock Auto is? Special tool? You mean a bearing press?

If its a front bearing buy it pre-pressed into the hub, rent a 3-jaw puller to remove it and use the axle nut to drive it back on.

If its a rear, then Auto Zone has Timken bearings for ~$54 each for BMWs. I spent about $9 worth of nuts, washers, and threaded rod to make my own tool to press the new bearing in.

Rear bearing. An Earl, it's alot easier with the special tool. We'll see. I gotta talk to J-design, see if I can snag a spot in his shop this weekend, and snag a few hours at his work..

I've never encountered that issue. Everything I have ever needed was about half or less than what it costs anywhere else.

Maybe, because E28's are rarer then E30's.. Possibility yeah.

Most of my e21 parts are less than other places offer them. I'm sure they are just as rare, no? :P

Who the hell knows. Either way, their prices aren't a big difference.

Holy shit, found basically the best how to on this wheel bearing, with no special tools. EPIC.

Yeah, I'm also being told that the reason my half shaft is sticking out a bit from the diff, is a snap ring, that's causing my entire problem.. I'm fucking LOST.

Diff is on the leftside, pass side half shaft is on the right. gap is between the half shaft and the diff.

The missing snap ring theory makes sense but I dont believe it would be displaced a noticable amount like that.

Does that gap exist when the car is on the ground or only when it is lifted in the air?

^ I originally thought maybe it pulls out when it's up in the air, but it stays out like that even when under full load.
