E30 brake issue

You can also take a short low speed drive around the neighborhood, avoid using the brakes (sorry kids!) and use an IR thermometer to compare rotor temperatures to see the extent of the dragging

The remedy may end up being new caliper guide pins or just lubricating the ones that are in there

Thanks for the responses. They're new rotors as of last summer, along with new pagid red (bavauto) pads. Guide pins weren't replaced, so that's probably a good place to start.

Lubed the guide pins this afternoon. We're guessing it's a real wheel bearing going out.

I'll let you guys know more when I get back home on Sunday. In the meantime, what would you guys recommend for replacing the bearings? Just pull the trailing arms or drop the whole subframe out?

None of the above, just take the wheel, rotor, and hub off

If you plan on dropping it like its hot, toss in some new bushings.

The axle will still have to be removed

You can easily replace rear wheel bearings with everything on the car. Invest in a few tools at Harbor Freight to do it easily:

I'd rent the slide hammer from an auto store for free. Just put down a 100% returnable deposit and away you go

Honestly you could rent all of that but I knew I would need it in the future and could help others do wheel bearings if need be=)
