It seems I am having a hard time working with Adams Rotors on getting the right ones made. For some reason, Centric doesn't show that Compacts had the option for vented front rotors unless it was a 98 or 99. Adams Rotors goes by what Centric says instead of the RealOem diagram that I supplied.

I just want to recoup some of the cost so I can get the proper fronts. Get someone to buy these please:

From what I can gather that is correct. They are the largest OE supplier of rotors and somehow do not know that compacts before 1998 had the option  for either solid or vented fronts. It seems I am getting parts of the blame for that for who knows what reason. Centric only shows few I's and then IS's got vented fronts that are the same diameter as mine.

Tell them to take them back, too bad, so sad for them.  It's not like they are interchangeable, I imagine the calipers are different to accommodate the quite different thickness between vented and non vented.

They're definitely very different thickness wise. I only see one caliper option so I would imagine you get pads that are thicker to take up the slack.

That seems very strange, unless the steel backing plate was thicker the pad would wear until the ears on the pad disengage from the grooves in the caliper and the pads would come out.

Will the 98/99 vented rotors fit your car? I'd keep fighting with them especially since you specified vented in the first place. Not your fault their catalog was wrong and adam's based their decision on that.

They're exactly the same as what I have. Lol For some reason Centric just doesn't show vented fronts available for the compact before 1998.

If you told them vented with the order then it is their fault.  They should have contacted you if they were in doubt.

I just told them that I needed rotors for a 1995 318ti. At the time I wasn't aware that there were two options for the front. Since Centric doesnt list vented fronts for a 95, they made solids.

If your rotors are the same as the 98/99 vented rotors, why cant you just order 98/99 vented rotors from them if their catalog shows vented for those years? Or am I missing something?

The thing is that my car came from the factory with the option for vented fronts. I ordered rotors for a 1995 318Ti because that is what I have. Since they never asked about vented or solid fronts, I figured they were making what I have (it never crossed my mind that there were two options for front rotors). When they arrived I then noticed that they gave me solid fronts and that they did not know that cars older than 98 came with vented fronts.

They are giving me the option to get the vented fronts but I have to pay an additional $50 to cover partial material and shipping costs. I do however get to keep the solid ones as well.

Because my car came with/is set up for vented rotors. Why would I pay this much money to have a downgraded set of rotors? The solid rotors will heat up a lot more and are a lot skinnier than the vented rotors.

Well in that case, I understand! I definitely perfer solid over vented and such because you don't need it unless you are tracking the car, and you can't resurface vented/slotted normally. Heat really isn't an issue unless you track it.

True, but I just want to have what the car already has instead of downgrading to solid=) If you prefer solid, would you like to by my solids for your e36? =D
