It sounds dumb, but I went years without having a single funnel in the garage. Just never remembered to buy one. Then when you need one and realize you forgot to buy them again.... #%&*!

Good luck with the first fire up!

O'reilly's currently has Valvoline Max Life 20w50 synthetic blend for $1.07 a quart! :o Originally over $6 a quart. The guy at the O'reilly I went to thanked me for taking every last bottle they had, lol.

I bought everything the O'Reillys on hwy 100 & Greenfield had. Hopefully that wasn't the one you went to, lol. The O'Reillys by my house in bayview doesnt even sell 20w50 which I found weird.

I can probably grab some more for people if they want to pick it up from my house in bayview or meet somewhere close. Just a thought.

Got 5 quarts of engine oil in (one small leak I need to fix), coolant filled up and trans filled with redline MTL. Figured I should see what the fuel looks like from sitting for such a long time... Removed the hose connecting the 2 tanks to drain and this is what came out

                              506c7f73acc91fa2a30e46eac9979d2c.jpg

Looks like I'll be dropping the tanks, cleaning them out and sealing them with kbs fuel tank sealer. First start up has officially been postponed. Might even remove the fuel accumulator and replace the fuel filter and pump with e30 units.

I recently had a tank cleaned at Mike's radiator in Waukesha. Did a great job and it was only $45. I think he gets $100-150 for cleaning and sealing.

Well over a year and a half I'd say. I'm probably just more paranoid about running shitty fuel and tank with the fresh engine I spent so much time and money on. Should probably be done anyways since its a 30+ year old fuel tank.

Tanks are out. Way more rust on the tops of the tanks than the bottoms. I'll take them to Mike's radiator tomorrow (if they're open) and see what he says.

Got more rusty metal out of the driver side floor pans.

                                          2adfd255114e3b38e7cb16027c8af7a3.jpg

Accelerator pedal broke at the floor mounting point which is fine since it was already broken at the top anyways. Ordered a new one from fcpeuro.

I cleaned the remaining metal, applied rust killer and will be painting it with kbs rustseal tomorrow or Sunday.

On a side note, the radiator shops I was going to take the fuel tanks to for price quotes were both closed today. Looks like I'll have to wait till next week sometime.
