Welding my trans mount tomorrow, which means the motor and trans go in this weekend.

In the mean time I started sorting through this mess.

Anything special about the E30 brake lines? Will a normal brake line flare kit work?

Bubble flares is what I was told by one of the old school techs. If you haven't done flares before good luck and hopefully they turn out. My suggestions would be to spend $$ on a good flare tool. I broke bits on doing lines on my old car and they ended up leaking too with a rental tool.

No you cannot use a standard brake line tool.

Thanks I think I got a pretty good deal on them.

Thinking about going gloss black, but feel bad painting these...

I think so too, but it will be the only thing not black or red on the car.

This also means I have to worry about suspension sooner that I was planning.

                      Exhaust manifolds fitted. Downpipes next.

Any thoughts on dual exhaust E30s? I have an idea in mind for what I want to do, but am afraid it won't look right.

Those wheels look great on there. If you want to change the color of them, I would recommend plastidip since they look so immaculate=)

                            Dual exhaust, lol.

As long as the engine is a V or boxer then duals are acceptable.

dual exhaust just doesnt look right on bmws of this vintage. its also not worth the extra cost or work over single: extra piping, two mufflers, extra cutting of the valance, more weight, etc etc.

i'm going for a big single oval exhaust tip when I redo mine.

I would just run dual lengths along the stock routing, I agree it would take some work to be "symmetric"

I will likely go with a single exhaust with an inline muffler and electronic cutout bypass for when I want it loud.

Those wheels are so dreamy! If you ever decide to sell them, Ill be your guy!

(BTW I actually test drove that red sedan that your wheels came off of in Detroit like 6 years ago. It was really clean then but it doesn't look so hot these days.)

Depends on the condition. If theyre mint I would say around $1000
