2010 328i M Sport // Build ThreadAlso bought an N54 intake manifold and plan to retrofit that when the garage is warm enough (too poor for a heater). Choosing this route over the 330 “3 stage” intake swap to avoid dealing with pesky DISA valves - the power gains are pretty similar: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1902505
I understand modifying an N52 is relatively pointless, but I’m doing it for the sheer sport of it.
Isnt that why we are all doing BMW things?

WTB: assorted e46 330xi/325xi partsGood to see the site is still here. Not sure how much traffic there is these days but figured I would try posting.
I recently picked up a 2003 330xi MT as a winter beater/project and could use a few things. Parts I need are interchangeable between the 330xi and 325xi models. If anyone might have them, know someone who might, or where there is one in a WI salvage yard let me know. I checked out the 2003 325xi at the MKE LKQ and it is pretty picked over.
Parts needed: UPDATE
-WENT AHEAD AND PURCHASED NEW: plastic undertrays /splash panels. The xi models of course have their own versions compared to other e46 models. There are three panels -- under engine, transmission and transfer case. I need all of them but especially the first two since this will be winter driver.
-FOUND: driver's side lower front fender liner (PO met a tree). Again unique to the xi models
-FOUND:: driver's front fender (see tree reference above), black would be ideal.
-driver's front seat (comfort) forward/backwards adjustment motor.
Not junk yard fare but I could also use a decent set of four all-season tires in either 225/45/17 or 205/50/17, as well as a single 205/50/17 spare. Car actually has a full-size spare but with the original 2002 build date tire.
It could use other things but I need to remember this is intended as a beater and not a rescue.
Thanks!
My suggestion would to set a posting update on marketplace to watch for people parting out xi's. Most salvage yards are picked over, or no longer allow you to walk the yard.

The Gang Buys a E70 xDrive35dI know I'm N47, but do you use a fuel stabilizer or fuel additive? I add some PowerService or DieselKleen every handful of fill ups (4-8) depending on the amount I fill up or the timeline since my last fill as I don't drive the car all the time. I also swap out my fuel filter every other oil change (10k miles). I know BMW says not to use additives, and its a mix of reviews online, but if gives me a piece of mind that I'm doing "something" to treat the fuel and prevent issues as not all Diesel is the same and its a sticky substance.
Its wild that something like a crank sensor can cause such bizarre unrelated codes
. I hope that was your fix! -

Shop Life 2.0I absolutely love white boards. Break down todo lists into systems and knock one system out at a time. Makes the job seem less daunting. Also helps me to keep motivation on long projects.
Just read though the entire thread. Love it bud!
I do the same thing. If I don't have tasks listed out, I get lost. I'm generally a clean and organized person, not only because I enjoy tidiness, but because if I'm unorganized I get lost and frustrated and everything takes 5x longer lol.

chit chat threadIf you wanna test out towing with my X5 sometime we could plan a boating day when it’s not hot as hell out 🥵
Ideally you want to test the boat when it is hot as hell out, it makes perfect swimming weather. Either way, I dropped the heads back off at the machinist so I will let you know when I'm back in business for a boat day and we can test it out!

2010 328i M Sport // Build ThreadAside from the fact the FRM came from an E9X M3 and the previous owner (who I can only imagine has dog shit for brains) had coded it to turn on the high beams when the headlight switch was set to off (position 2) - this literally took me weeks of wire tracing and headaches only to figure out it was coded that way...
I chuckled at this, but also thought of reasons it may have been that way (possibly aftermarket headlights wired incorrectly or halos wired as high beams). All in all I'm glad you got it sorted!

Lifted Diesel F30 Daily Driver? Also figured I should share some updated pictures. I have since had a crew of people remove the decals at Sam’s wedding, and painted the blue exhaust tip black.

I also bought a brand new full airlift 3p setup with dual compressors and level sensors from a friend for a really good price, and I got a set of iForged wheels from another friend, but ended up selling the wheels and I am having second thoughts about the airride…

chit chat threadIf you plan to town frequently or thats the main use of the vehicle I would go with the OBS, the X5 is ok for towing and I know theres crazy people on FB that post them towing heavy equipment and such but it just wasn't designed for that.
My boat is maybe 3500lbs max with the trailer? Im sure either will handle the job. I know the x5 will be much nicer and better on fuel, but the OBS has a longer wheel base and is an actual truck so it would likely be a better option for longer drives.

Shop Life 2.0Aside from the major issues, there are 100 smaller ones. Someday I would like to get this stuff sorted out and drive it more, but it's been a few years since I've had the ambition.
Thats always the case. I also fight the same demons of wanting to work on stuff. I find that once I actually start working on something again, I start to gain the ambition back, as long as I can stay focused.
