theyve been selling it for years. if there were some great amount of failures, shoudnt we have heard about it by now? i think they use some aluminum fittings for the brake stuff, even. cant muck about with brakes with inferior stuffs and not have a lawsuit.

Yeah, very valid point. I guess I'm just used to not having kits available for things so I'm looking at tried and true patterns that OEs abide by, and tend toward overbuilding things to avoid hassles. A friend had a high pressure PS line fail a couple years back after I warned about using garden variety AN fittings and hose on it, rather than high pressure stuff suited to the application.

After looking at the chase bays high pressure hose for my own curiosity, it looks like they are using crimped fittings (which are much more important for higher pressure) and thicker wall 90s, rather than the thinner tube stuff you commonly see for fuel line and the like. Like you said, probably okay given that they've had the product out there, just wouldn't be the material I'd choose if assembling from scratch (which is irrelevant to this conversation 🤐).

Tom - I have a few BMWs, an overworked Volvo 242, and now a YouTube channel called Drive, Revive, Tinker

Fitting was still too long so I just did what I was going to do originally and shortened the first fitting. Got everything buttoned up, so far I don’t see any leaks after bleeding/idling in the garage. I’ll need to go drive it around a bunch to confirm.

Also 2/4 of the wheels showed up, figured out a few different spacer sizes that should work depending on how wide the rt660s actually run. My assumption is quite wide based on some pics I’ve seen

Sold the RE71/K1s, replacements showed up today

plan is to slap them on these:

it’s about the only lightweight 8.5” wide wheel I could find that didn’t have bacon fender inducing offset. Ordering up some spacers later today. Hoping to have this all ready to go by the time RA autox rolls around

Haven't really been following the 200 treadwear battle, but I'm sure it's still fierce. What made you decide to go with the Falkens?

                  RE71r doesn’t come in a 225/45/15

the rt660 has been shown to be pretty much on par with the RE71r, they are also cheaper than the RE71r in similar sizes

It was either that or bronze, they’ll look the same shade of brake dust anyways

Spacers ordered, front im 99% sure will be ok after all the measuring and fitting.
the rear wheels bolt up and clear everything, but I ordered a small one just in case it decides to get friendly with the body during suspension travel

Here it’s shown at full droop with no spacer

Have been driving the car for a bit, pump still makes a noticeable whine. No leaks (hooray) from the PS system, but now I have a loud pump. Checked chase bays troubleshooting guide:

                              8C5EECE7-2D25-48F4-B287-FE6F26B6C93B.jpeg

the clamp I was sent is as tight as I can get it, so now I’m wondering if I have a clamp that is too large. I have to get them the PN off the clamp (which is facing the block and not easy to see) so they can figure out if what they sent me is correct. 😒

In other news my spacers show up tomorrow and I get wheels mounted on Wednesday.
I bought a fender roller just in case lol

So if anyone is curious, The RT660 is quite wide, the 200tw class battle is out of control lol

these are on a 8.5” wheel and aren’t the slightest bit stretched, could honestly probably put them on a 9” and almost be square

                                    C4632CD3-1AB5-4F63-A737-FC7D6F57E63E.jpeg

Due to the added chonk, i had to order a different sized spacer for the fronts because I was assuming an rs4-ish sized tire
