Was the bumper oxidized, or just scuffed/scratched?

Oxidized mostly, with a lot of spotting. I still left the clear anodizing on it, just polished it up.

Interesting. Any specific product/method you recommend for getting the oxidation off? The rear bumper on my e30 could definitely use some love.

I just used buffing compound. If its really bad, you will need to sand through the anodizing and polish them. Its an extremely long and time consuming process.

More progress. I pulled the valve cover off to replace the gasket, paint the cover, paint the air box and AFS, replace the breather hose, and do the oil tube update @YoungCRmentioned earlier.

I used the Evapor-rust to clean the clips and bolts holding stuff together while I strip and paint stuff and bake it on the oven with VHT.

              IMG3917.JPGIMG3943.JPGIMG3944.JPGIMG3945.JPG

Before the modified oil squirter looked like this( when I finally got it out)

              IMG3947.JPG

And after I compressed the center. This is a common fix to help add oil pressure to lubricate the front rocker arms during low RPM driving. IMG3949.JPGIMG3948.JPG

I would say yes, but it would take some modification. Here is a e24 trim ring over my e30 lights. They are the same diameter, but the spacing between the lights isn't the same. *note the light holes seem larger in the e24 grills because of the chrome trim rings.

Late model 88-89 had ellipsoids stock, not sure about smilies though.

Haven't been able to put the oil rail back in the car yet because I need new crush washers. I'm hoping zinbrick has some on Monday. Otherwise $10 on eBay and 1 week to arrive. 😦

Waiting on crush washers to come in the mail any minute now....

In the meantime I blasted and painted the valve cover, got some new hoses, and installed a new O2 sensor.

Last night I decided to pull apart the caliper that was sticking in hopes of just cleaning it up and putting it back together to free it up. That was a giant fail as the caliper was froze so bad (probably from me driving it and getting it hot) that I had to spend 30mins just to get it off of the rotor. It was crusty but not as bad as I was expecting. I ordered new pads, clips, and a seal kit for the front calipers.

Still on the search for new front the following parts:

                            -Exterior-

                            -Front grilles and kidneys
                            -Front valance

                            -Interior-
                            -Sun visor clips 51161927473

-Rear deck lid covers in Cherry

                            -Mechanical-
-Muffler (I might just run pipes from the resonator out the back instead)
                            -Front springs
-Driver side front caliper(if I cant fix what I have)

What brand is that new sensor? NTK?

Valve cover looks nice, your wrinkle paint spraying skills surpass mine.

                                Yes NTK.

The key to nice wrinkle paint is using an oven. Makes it look like I know what Im doing. 😄

Still waiting on parts. The first shipment was lost so the seller sent a second set of crush washers. How annoying. Anyways, I did an oil change, painted the AFS, and some more parts since they were off the car. The old oil filter was super gross and the last person that installed the filter smashed the gasket and it doesnt look like it was sealing properly 😦 The oil itself looked far overdue as well so I cleaned everything out really well before adding new stuff. I replaced all the o-rings and crush washers and added VR-1 because it has the extra zinc levels in it perfect for older bmw motors. I ran this oil in my M20 and loved it.

I also have a lead on a front valance, grills, kidneys, and euro lights. So there's that as well.

Rebuilt the brake caliper last night even though one of the seals was the wrong size. Besides that, I was sent a box with 4 rear inside brake pads instead of new front pads, so I cant install the caliper if I wanted to anyways.

I failed to take pictures of most of my results due to anger and frustration. But here is a not so great picture of the difference in the seal that was incorrect.

It looks like it would work, but would certainly not. Imagine trying to repair a bicycle inner tube using a 26" tube on a kids 16" wheel. It doesn't work.
