Bad day, pulling away from a stop sign on the way to work this morning the engine just quit.  Cranking it the engine spins but it sounds like all of the spark plugs are out which does not seem promising.  I will pull the valve cover tonight to see what bit the dust.    :(  305,870 miles.

Anyone have an M50tu laying around?  Also a transmission?  My Getrag has gotten worse to the point that up or downshifts into second gear are usually not happening without nasty sounds if it will go in at all which really kills the fun of ripping through roundabouts in second gear wide open.

hopefully it is something benign like a relay. that's what happened to me - engine quit, would crank but not fire. twas the main relay!

i think i saw various e36 engines/transmissions for sale on craigslist.

Unfortunately it sounds like it has no compression at all.  Like the sound when all of the spark plugs are removed.  I wonder if something failed in the timing and my valves all look like this.

The primary timing chain snapped.  Weird, I wouldn't consider that a maintenance item on these engines.  I'm sure valves are bent but my optimism requires me to check.

Is the glass still half full after pulling the head?

I didn't pull it yet.  I'm going to remove the plugs and check with my camera first.  Been busy with house projects all week.  Maybe tomorrow.

Long time no post!  Zero to update! It's been sitting in my garage with a replacement engine and transmission right next to it.  I'm just never going to get around to putting it together.  It has a lot of replaced and nice parts.  Read through the thread for all of it.  It has some rust and will never be a show car but isn't really that bad.  It has so many replaced and nice parts, my intention was always to just use all of the parts on my arctic grey sedan someday.

                    699332254.thumb.jpg.73a8f1ea0312e1138407017535a72761.jpg

                    Eibach suspension that works good.

                    Solid mounted rear subframe.

The whole rear suspension is gone through, adjustable lower control arms, M out ball joints top for outer top and bottom.  3.15 LSD (I think this was factory, in 93 the cold weather package came with heated seats and LSD and no traction control because it wasn't ready yet).

                    Custom exhaust sounds really good.

The engine in the car has a broken timing chain, replacement engine appears to be working, it came from somebody doing a swap.  I can't guarantee it works though.  The engine in the car has Stewart water pump, Dinan TB, new coolant hoses, newer starter, Dinan ecu chip, and some other stuff.

Comes with a replacement Getrag transmission from the same place as the engine.

                    Xbrace

Anyone interested?  It's taking up too much garage space and causing marital strife...  Make me an offer.

I bought a truck to replace my work van that is falling apart/also too small.

2020 Ranger XLT with 6k miles.  I was actually going to order a new XL very basic options but when I went in after selecting options with the salesman it rejected the order because they are apparently out of engines for 2023.  So I started searching used and found this one locally.  Complete with old man appearance package, chrome, running boards, etc.

                    D0601F29-E037-4C14-A6C7-538A40B4F239.thumb.jpg.6e54b96aa2c0097e7e5649cba09279c7.jpg

Replacing the old Sienna.  It served me well starting my electrical contractor business.  But now it's rusted so bad the receiver hitch was falling off, the sliding doors don't open without the perfect touch, and it's very tight fitting everything in it.  Major pluses are that 10' conduit fit down the middle.  280k miles on it and it still runs great.  My parents bought it when it was a few years old with 60k on it so it's been in the family a long time.

                    Sorry I am a disappointment 😭

I live about 30 mins west of Wausau. So about an hour radius depending on what the job is. Anything from service work to new houses to generator installs or commercial work.

Upgrade on the Ranger. New downpipe from CVFab. They seem like a Ford only performance place?  Dunno I’ve never had a Ford before. Fit great, and wow is it nice working on something that isn’t rusty.

It’s stripped of good stuff and loaded up for scrap. If anyone wants any wire connectors or other bits let me know asap. Probably hauling it away mid morning tomorrow. It’s stripped of good stuff and loaded up for scrap. If anyone wants any wire connectors or other bits let me know asap. Probably hauling it away mid morning tomorrow. I did pull the head just to see and yea it was a mess of bent valvesIMG1389.thumb.jpeg.710c05e6e7d58934318205e1b5a0ba04.jpegIMG1374.thumb.jpeg.51092eca44acc6fa72e69d93bbabbf78.jpeg

@jc43089 Even so, might be worth pulling before you scrap the car - few examples in pretty rough condition:

Wow I didn’t realize they were that valuable. I pulled them off. If anyone wants them make me an offer. They have a 4 wire connector. I don’t know if the motors work because I had no door card and therefore no buttons 😂  My other car is a sedan so I don’t think they would fit anyway.

I honestly would be interested in the hood, doors, fenders, shit, maybe the whole shell?

                                      I will PM you.
