<![CDATA[Fancy Stancy 325is]]>Found this gem at a farm auction.  Took it home for 450$ after fees and all that good stuff.  Trailered it home, because it cranks but wouldn't start.  I think the no start even with starting fluid is due to a janky security system, halo rings and tail lights were flashing all crazy like when the key is turned on.  Cranked it onto the trailer with the starter so that seems pretty strong...  It has Bilsteins and some blue springs that have been cut and reattached together with some zip ties, seems legit.  It's a good thing I brought my wooden ramps to use with the trailer ramps, it still scraped a little on the exhaust.  

Hopefully I have some time to work on it soon, first is to do a compression test and then figure out what's up with the sketchy electrical stuff to see it I can get it running.  Backup plan is to put my other m50 in and drive it for a while.  I should probably remove the cop attracting stickers, I would rather not have my car sniffed every time a cop catches sight of me.

Another nice surprise was the 272k on the odometer when I turned it on, it's been around the block a few times.

I don’t know if the motors work because I had no door card and therefore no buttons 😂  My other car is a sedan so I don’t think they would fit anyway.

It's been sitting in my garage with a replacement engine and transmission right next to it.  I'm just never going to get around to putting it together.  It has a lot of replaced and nice parts.  Read through the thread for all of it.  It has some rust and will never be a show car but isn't really that bad.  It has so many replaced and nice parts, my intention was always to just use all of the parts on my arctic grey sedan someday.

Eibach suspension that works good.

Solid mounted rear subframe.

The whole rear suspension is gone through, adjustable lower control arms, M out ball joints top for outer top and bottom.  3.15 LSD (I think this was factory, in 93 the cold weather package came with heated seats and LSD and no traction control because it wasn't ready yet).

Custom exhaust sounds really good.

The engine in the car has a broken timing chain, replacement engine appears to be working, it came from somebody doing a swap.  I can't guarantee it works though.  The engine in the car has Stewart water pump, Dinan TB, new coolant hoses, newer starter, Dinan ecu chip, and some other stuff.

Comes with a replacement Getrag transmission from the same place as the engine.

I bought a truck to replace my work van that is falling apart/also too small.

2020 Ranger XLT with 6k miles.  I was actually going to order a new XL very basic options but when I went in after selecting options with the salesman it rejected the order because they are apparently out of engines for 2023.  So I started searching used and found this one locally.  Complete with old man appearance package, chrome, running boards, etc.

Replacing the old Sienna.  It served me well starting my electrical contractor business.  But now it's rusted so bad the receiver hitch was falling off, the sliding doors don't open without the perfect touch, and it's very tight fitting everything in it.  Major pluses are that 10' conduit fit down the middle.  280k miles on it and it still runs great.  My parents bought it when it was a few years old with 60k on it so it's been in the family a long time.

Unfortunately it sounds like it has no compression at all.  Like the sound when all of the spark plugs are removed.  I wonder if something failed in the timing and my valves all look like this.

I use Royal Purple HPS 5w-30.  However it already had 272k on it when I acquired it so I am probably wasting my money.

Or did you mean the 2 stroke oil?  That is some blue stuff from the hardware store.  It says "go fast or be last" on the jug so it must be good.

]]>https://wibimmers.com/post/103614https://wibimmers.com/post/103614Tue, 21 Jan 2020 19:52:54 GMT<![CDATA[Reply to Fancy Stancy 325is on Tue, 21 Jan 2020 19:27:07 GMT]]>303k with the cold weather comes adding 2 stroke oil in order to have decent compression for a cold start.  This thing must have been just beat to death for years.  Someday I will tear it down to find what is worn out so badly.  Interestingly enough when I used my leakdown tester it really didn't seem to leak much at all, I think around 5% on all cylinders.  But if it doesn't crank fast enough and start right away it will wash the cylinders down and then just crank forever.  I am not sure if it ever got run with the turbo that was on it or not, but there was a mixture of oily gravel in the intake manifold so that probably wasn't ideal.
