You could make some Louvers out of sheet metal. Cut the scoops out and bend them out, I don't think you could get anything to fit the side windows at the scrap yard. Then rivet it into the body because rivets look rugged!!

Yeah for sure. I was thinking vaccum formed like the ones on that 240. I looked at the salvage yard for stuff today, but couldnt quite find what I was looking for. 😕

      More updates:

I have yet to shoot myself in the foot but I have come very close.

I found a guy on Facebook parting out a black E36 that was rolled over and drove to the middle of nowhere AKA Belmont Wisconsin. I managed to get a bunch of parts for a good price to help myself justify the headache I got myself into.

      - Drivers door

      -Heater controls

      -Taillights

      -fuse box cover

      -Taillight switch

With this I fixed the door latch by replacing the entire driver door, fixed the tail lights that didn't work at all with the brake switch and new lights(was much harder than it sounds), and was able to test the heat and blower motor which to my surprise works great!

Feeling successful, I bought a new water pump, and decided to tackle the slightly weeping old pump and clean up some of the crazy noodled coolant lines on the front of the block. This luck of fixing and unbastardizing was coming to a quick end though, as I found out loosening the second bolt to the water pump, that someone already took it upon themselves to replace the water pump once before and was nice enough to cross-thread any bolt they could find into it. Thus the bolt sheared right off at the threads with minimal effort.          Yay. Time to bust out the tap set 😐

You will all be happy to know that I got it all back together last night, and started pouring coolant in it just to watch it all pour out the bottom of the water pump. Turns out I used the wrong gasket. Luckily I have the right gasket still sitting in the package, waiting. Updates soon, hopefully followed by burnouts and more broken parts to replace.

In the meantime, I realized this car was missing something important, which I also ordered.

I imagine the water pump is pretty quick and easy with the hardware situation straightened out

Nope! Living life on the edge on this one. Lag bolts will be fine.

Yeah. I tapped all 27 holes on the front of the block and got new hardware where needed. This biggest problem is that 5 or so of the bolts went through the water pump then through the timing cover and threaded into the block. So I had to pull the timing cover and harmonic balancer off. But this was okay because I was able to replace the front main seal and the timing cover gasket which was slightly leaking as well.

I meant hardware for the fittings. I have the same one and went without. It was a PITA finding stuff

Why? What size were your fittings? Also, mine wasn't the same as the one pictured above, but it's similar.

So I got the whole water pump deal back into the car for the second time, only to realize that it was still leaking from somewhere. It turns out that if you own a Ford you have to get really use to taking things apart more than once. So what happened is there is a second set of holes in the timing cover for an older style waterpump. SBF's have been around and in production for a longggg time. Apparently my understanding is that I have a reverse rotating timing cover which is common for older carb'd 302's and mine is a newer fuel injected motor and I am using a regular rotating water pump.

                        Nice.

So I can run this timing cover but I will need to thread some type of plugs into the bolt holes that the coolant is leaking out of. Ughh.

                        leakin.jpg

On the more aesthetic side of things, I have come to the conclusion that I am going to add some red accents to the car to make it seem more, uh demonic or devilish? I ordered red window tint and plan on adding some red halos and red leds here and there like so:

                            I'm greatly enjoying this thread.
It's amusing having two active threads of cars that we don't truly care about!

The red tint should be interesting, that's for sure!
Any plans of throwing a huge wing on the back of the car?

Thanks everyone! I am glad to hear everyone likes the red tint idea. I was slightly skeptical at first but now I am fully devoted since I have some supporters.

I do have plans to toss a massive rear wing on the car. But I am also trying really hard to keep everything low budget. I want to be able to smash this thing into a wall and not worry about how my wallets feels after the fact. I was thinking it might be cheaper to just make a duckbill spoiler vs buying a wing. If anyone has an idea on where I can find a big, dumb, idiotic, monstrosity of a wing for a good price, please share.

I will be making a splittter, and a rear diffuser for the car as I already have the materials, I just need the time and a plan. So far I was looksing at some of the following:

I don't know why it does it for me, but the back of that red e36 is gorgeous.
I have wanted to do some crap like that to my e30 for awhile now...

The downside is that they are indeed expensive!
A friend used plexi, a couple of hinges, and turnbuckles to put an adjustable plexiglass duckbill on the back of his e30.

                                  ...

Ive seen it done many times for pennies. But big wangs are just awesome. Best deal i have found so far was $180 and thats without uprights.

to me it looks like the car is missing its bumper and someone was to cheap to replace it.
