E21 Project Thread - Part 2

Sweet!!
-
Pretty bird! Pretty bird!

Is it gold or cast iron? The world may never know.
-
Ordered some misc parts and everything to refresh the shifter. Installed the last of the head seals/gaskets. Also installed the oil baffle plate and started drilling the hole in the pan for turbo oil drain fitting.

-
Too late. Already drilled the hole in pan and secured the thru-wall sealing fitting.
Got the wire in the o-ring grooves, which turned out to be pretty tedious getting the wire ends filed down and touching.
Installed the first oil pan gasket with crank scraper as well as oil pump.

Finished up with the second gasket and the pan. What a huge PITA to install the pan bolts with two gaskets, crank scraper and pan to line up!

Time to take the triumph out for its first ride of the season before the Wisconsin game!
-
Got the ARP head studs installed in the block with head gasket placed.

Torqued the cam sprocket, set head and block to TDC and installed head on block. Torqued to spec.

-
YES!
-
Didnt get as much done last night as I wanted to, but I did get the water pump and timing belt on and tensioned. I also ordered a few more parts and pieces that will hopefully be here by the weekend.

-
Didn't opt for the gates Kevlar racing belt?
Nah. Thought about it, but OEM is good enough for me.
Tonight I got the valves adjusted, intake manifold installed, valve cover installed and got the exhaust manifold fitted

-
Getting closer .... Timing covers on, water pump pulley, alternator bracket and distributor cap/rotor installed, exhaust manifold secured and turbina installed.

-
Sweet!
How much red loc-tite did you use on that Hey-zeus bolt?
I tired to find an image of a brat being dunked in some Secret Stadium Sauce but I had to close that tab.. Almost shorted out my keyboard...
-
Thanks guys! Yeah I used a good amount on that crank bolt sucker. Hopefully won't be a problem.
-
Cut new grooves into the new injectors and got them on the rail.

Remember kids, dont throw off the emperors groove ...

-
Got the oil filter housing installed & clocked to clear the manifold, fuel rail and injectors installed, oil distribution block put on and the turbo oil feed line ran. Started fitting the turbo oil drain line too. Just have to cut the braided line to length and attach the other fitting.

Do work!
