You had one bad coil? Trust me...replace all 6. If one goes bad...the other 5 will go soon after.
This is dumb advice. So say one control arm ball joint goes bad, your suppose to replace the other side as well? Please give me all your old parts when you do this. I'll use them when my car breaks.

I sure would replace the other side. I always do things like that in pairs

I have observed 4 out of 6 coils fail on a Honda J-series within a 6 month period. Â bigjae may have experienced something similar on his own car and is simply trying to offer helpful advice.

OK. Well...I guess my 12 years of driving and maintaining E46s is telling me the wrong answer. But carrying 6 spare coils to the track has saved me a tow home twice. Just sayin'.
And when one control arm with a non replaceable ball joint goes bad...you actually are supposed to replace both sides.

The exhaust is getting pretty annoying. I know this won't go over well with some but I am leaning towards my exhaust guy welding a muffler up.Â
Needs to be done soon. I need two of me to make more time!

I know i do...haha. Backyard mechanics annoy me sometimes. I see no problem carrying spare coils but not uaing them until one actually fails. Also #3 coil boot is probably your issue not the whole coil. But maybe you want to carry 3 sets of spares just in case.

I had Dan the Exhaust Man weld up the B&B muffler and all is quite on the Eastern Front except when thy beans are given.

Always do stuff in pairs!!! if the car is already on stands and you have the tools out... why not!?! Also if one is going bad, the other is normally not all too far behind...

The #6 misfire has been silent for about a week. But if it comes on again I have a new injector waiting to install.
Also have new coil for #4 because the current one doesn't snap onto the plug. It just sits there.

I have a new driver side wiper arm to install. I feel the old spring is losing its mojo.

She started running a little rough yesterday. I replaced the #4 coil but no change.
There is no engine light on. I'm wondering if the fuel pressure regulator is bad. Possibly do a fuel filter.
Needs an oil change too.

I always forget, and hate stickers. I guess I could also put a post it in my glovebox... -
I just change the oil at even 10k intervals, and just the filter at 5k, eg: 200k = oil change, 205k = just filter, 210k = oil change etc.
Why do you change the filter 2x as much as the oil? Â I have never heard of this before.

John runs royal purple so to offset the cost he uses it longer
just kidding im guessing since synthetic last longer he just changes filters to keep the fluid clean. Curious for the explanation though.I am interested to hear as well. Â They do make long life filters for these maintenance schedules if that is truly the reason. Â There are enough manufacturers using extended oil change intervals for years now that the products are available to accommodate.

This is true, I was referring to changing the filter more often on the Nissan, not the BMW. It has a super tiny oil filter and concerns me, it also is in a terrible spot that it can't be swapped for a longer one to have more surface area. It's definitely not necessary though. The Royal Purple HPS is good for more than 10k, I just go for overkill by changing it that often.
