Supercharger or turbo

I have a 4.4l V8 540i should I put twin turbos or a supercharger in it?????

Supercharger would be easier.$$  Turbos could lead to higher total power. $$$$$$$

I think you need to know what your budget is first and foremost and what are your power goals.  

If it was an unlimited budget I would always go turbo just for the general ease to increase boost and make power as well as the overall efficiency of a turbo compared to supercharger.  

For ease of install and a smaller budget with moderate gains I would do a supercharger.  Easy to maintain, low entry price but you can't just turn the boost up to see more gains.  Yes you can install different pulleys but every supercharger is going to have limits.

I worked on a GTO with a rear mount turbo set up years ago.  Plumbing... Plumbing for days...

How does it work when it's in back of the car?

It is a good way to go if you want to go turbo and be able to revert the car back to stock easily.

-Intercooler not needed

-uses stock exhaust manifolds

-keeps excess heat out of the engine bay

STS makes kits but it wouldn't be difficult to make your own. Their site will give you an idea on what its all about.

Nope, no remote mount here. I used to live near STS though and tons of people in the area ran them.

Are there any power gains from a remote mounted turbo? I can't see any advantage besides space savings and cutting down on engine bay temps. I can see the turbo being more laggy due to being that far down the line.
