The clutch removal was interesting.  The dowel with the bolt head, pictured below was finger loose and was backed out about 2 full turns.  Some of the others were a little loose but this was the worst one.  SKETCH!

These allen bolts were loose as well.  I will be calling UUC to see what the deal is.  There can't be more than 3,000 miles on the clutch.

Use loctite on the pressure plate hardware for sure. The clamping force of that pressure plate, the aluminum flywheel, and dissimilar metals makes for a good recipe for loss of torque.

Cant tell you how happy I am to see an update here. It gives me motivation

I'm excited to get it sorted out soon. The goal is to drop the engine to C&S Performance no later than February 15.

I'll have them make a torque block and straighten everything out.

Fun! At least it is a very evident issue.

Recommendation, use n54 exhaust manifold studs. They have a torx head on the end so you don't have to double nut every stud in. Doesn't really matter now, but just good info to get out there!

I'm glad to see you digging into this again!

Motor is at C&S. Hopefully they can bring it back to life. Cylinder #2 had water in it and was rusty.

I've seen that before, and it cleaned up with a quick honing.  Depends on how deep it is pitted though.  It will just retain oil better, some call it 'seasoning".

                                          🤢

Frustrating news! I'd like to see a picture of the crack if you can take one.

                                          What is next? S52+2?

Or finally going to get that Cobalt SS you've always wanted?
