Dave, the place you posted has 2.5" round to oval too.

Yup I saw that, but figured the "frame clearance tubing" is basically what I'd be making with two round-to-oval adapters and an oval section. And it's cheaper.

Why not run a round muffler/resonator mid car, then adjust the tubing to go where it needs to?

The stock routing goes over the rear subframe, then under the half-shaft. With the work that he's done in that area, and the larger-than-stock tubing, it would be a tight squeeze. Running it under the subframe works but it's pretty close to the ground at that point. Thankfully, I raised my subframe a couple inches, so I shouldn't have this issue... 😒

          ^^^ What he said

I ordered the flowmaster HP-2 resonator and am just waiting on a call from the company that makes the frame clearance tubing as they may be able to save me time and money.

Decided to remove the turbo and manifold to see where the exhaust leak is coming from while I wait for mandrel bent exhaust pieces to come in the mail.

This may explain why my car sounded like a diesel engine last summer. Holy exhaust leak/shitty alignment batman!!!!! Don't do eBay manifolds, just don't!

I'm picking up@snap old ceramic coated manifold and turbo adapter for piece of mind. Ordering new exhaust manifold gaskets too. 606de225c0a74df03426ceaa7dc15f2f.jpg7276fe8bf18379821be844f294a8aef6.jpg7fb11cca98d79ba15f3a1fd00622f13b.jpg

almost looks like the flange might be upside down on that manifold (which is exactly the problem with some ebay volvo manifolds too)

Tom - I have a few BMWs, an overworked Volvo 242, and now a YouTube channel called Drive, Revive, Tinker

That's a good point. I bet you are right with that one. All I know is that it spooled pretty decently like this, so I'm anxious to find out what it does with a proper manifold.

I just won a lot of 2.5" SS mandrel bent pipe on eBay consisting of 2 180 bends, 1 45 bend and 4 90 bends all for $35 plus shipping. Should be plenty for what i need to make my exhaust.

Yeah I finally got some free time this past weekend. Once I get the mandrel exhaust pieces in the mail I will be diving into this more. I feel like if I cut off the ebrake cable tube from underside of floor that I may be able to squeeze the pipe between the subframe, floor and diff, which would be ideal. But won't know until then. Crossing my fingers.

Picked up the ceramic coated manifold with turbo adapter from @Snap. I'm excited to get this on and see how it fits. I ordered new manifold gaskets from @andyhundley which I will pickup today and also ordered an EWG v band block off plate since my turbo is internally gated. From comparing the old manfold with the new, looks like the new one has the turbo flange clocked just a hair more towards the fender. I'll make it work nonetheless of course.

It's like Christmas in July here today! The ewg vband block off plate came in the mail, the box of 2.5" SS mandrel bends came in the mail and a mid-rise car lift happened in the garage. 28c52acdcca435ea14551505e77bbab5.jpg66ff46b427c40e97512f668785d4ca25.jpgb1be275cea12ee1afd103de4131341aa.jpg7e1ee110286e665e13aa0fb45fcecf27.jpg2fc728aa951ae93d306295ac8eb27c2e.jpg

Worked on the turbo adapter manifold fiasco some more. Looks like we're in business afterall. Manifold wasn't fitting with the studs installed in head, so I had to pull them all and switch to socket head screws. Once the manifold was temporarily fitted, it was uncomfortably close to the frame. Some sectioning was done, and welded up to keep it's strength. Some clearancing for the internal wastegate was need as well, the BFH fixed that as well. Everything was prepped and painted too. Tomorrow should be the day the manifold goes back on for good as well as the turbo. Exhaust leak fixed!2409d301b72b8986fdb69b8a53d379d7.jpg91d074cf3294f9fd63270587a50c8b9d.jpgfc125a15c615cd4cc02ffe5ce24828d3.jpg0bb5c63a96e33f79c74ecd5e933714bd.jpg
