It is because of the diff. The medium case is wider than the small case, so the half-shafts need shortening. The euro and us models use the same half-shafts otherwise.

Got everything mocked up and ready to measure up the halfshaft lengths needed.

      c4619a4e3beb35ab75c1f7e9cfcc8bb7.jpg

I went ahead and cut an inch out of the bad halfshaft which should be more than needed. Found that 1" black pipe fits right over the halfshaft like a glove (after grinding a nub or two off the shaft). So I drilled some holes, welded a few nuts and got some thumb screws. Now I have an adjustable length shaft to mock things up with.

thats a clever way to measure!

also, i'm glad someone else uses their living room/furniture as work space.

Always! Keeps the parts from getting scratched or dinged and its a lot more comfy working inside than outside this time of year. 😁

LOL best part of this is $$$$ on car parts taking priority over real living room furniture.

Mitch you should probably put that gallon of strawberry milk in the fridge before it goes bad.

Started messing with the rear euro valance install this weekend. Using my brothers awesome snap-on body hammers and dollies I got some areas smoothed out on it. I think it will be easier once it's welded on the car. I went to sand down the edge of the car to bare metal for welding and ran into another Fat Bob curse.

                            DAMN YOU FAT BOB!!!!

                            92e27ee31d0062cc60b01cf16972d96f.jpg

Looks like he just chipped away some rust and bondo'd the hole shut. [emoji35] So I got in there and ground away all the bondo and proceeded to weld up the hole like it should of been in first place. Picture looks worse than in person. I basically built up weld beads and ground it flat to form the edge again for the valance to be welded to.

                            Progress pic

                            4e57f9c366a13bd1447b5884b03147b0.jpg

Then just for fun I tacked the valance on for how it may look. I need to take it off and get that edge flatter to fit against the car a lot better. Then from there I'll need to figure out the side pieces and it should be good to go.

The horrible previous owner of this car. Dumb high school kid who lost his license, so he decided to do terrible work to the car I have been discovering since day one of owning it.
