Chapter GMW | E30 LS1 (starting on post #1427)
-
I have a silly question. Will sanding and painting the driveshaft affect it's balance?
Definitely not silly. I'm taking it to A-1 drive-shadt in Stallis after it gets the final coat of paint. Might as well make sure.
-
Any insight to the central locking unit and wires would be greatly appreciated.
-
Got the e36 drive shaft painted up and the e30 CSB on it.
Comparison pictures of the e30 and e36 DS:

Painted. Zipties FTW!

Ready to go!

On to the Evo 3 Shifter.
The clip of the beeeaches.

Had to use a vice grips to get it installed.

Done.

New rear mount.

Top side c-clipped in.

Sitting low!!

New ZHP Knob to top it off.

-
Fancy! The DSSR is what makes it good.
That should be coming in the mail tomorrow.
-
Were they designed to fit the old one?
-
Thanks for the heads up
-
All new everything

Rigged up

Torqued to 74 ft/lbs.

UPS should be delivering the SS slave cylinder line today. I'll get that installed and bleed the system. Tomorrow the DSSR should be here. More than likely will have to sand down the selector to make it work.
After that all I'll have to do is:
- Drive shaft
- Diff and axel
- Change oil
- Turbo gasket
- Cut the tial BOV spring a little
- Shifter gasket thing, boot and ZHP knob
-
So close, I'm sure you are ready for boosting!
Heading back into the garage now!!
-
You're flying through this thing! Keep up the awesome work

Thanks!!
Must be nice to sit at home all day working on your car and taking pictures!
Haha! The life of a Realtor. I'm taking calls, scheduling appointments and wrapping up some accepted offers. I have a rental showing in Stallis at 5:30. Anyone want a 3br 2ba house for $1400?

Back in the garage...
Took the red/blk wire loop out of the door connector by splicing it out. Once I connected the wires something clicked in the central locking unit or interior light module. Good sign??

This might be the problem. Central Locking Unit.

Turned my attention to the stereo system.
Got a new sub amp. 600w Kenwood to replace my old 500w Alpine.

Also got new 3 new Stinger RC cables and routed them on the drivers side hopefully to eliminate the whining that matches the RPMs when they vary.

Headed back into the bimmer cave now!
