Finally a build update:

I cut the front of my car off, built a tube front, and then everything decided to snowball.

With the tube front done, I decided to do some wheel tubes to keep water/dirt out. I've always wanted to experiment with composites and saw this as an opportunity.

After modeling the entire tube front, I created the wheel tub in solidworks, 3d printed the molds, and created carbon fiber wheel tubs/liners. Also, a special resin was used and the passenger side tube was post heated allowing to withstands 500+ deg temperatures.

The tube front moved the position of the oil cooler, therefore a new ducting system had to be designed.

Made up some bumper brackets to adapt the factory crash bar.

Once everything critical was mocked up the bay was painted, finally assembly has started and is beginning to start to look like a car again. I still have to finish painting a few of the brackets and reclear all of the carbon pieces. I know I have missed a lot of small details, hopefully they make it here sooner than later. 

Ahhhh the good ole build thread.  Been a very tame winter

I wasnt planning to rewrap the whole car but after a few panels we noticed my car has seemed to turn and orange color. So a whole re wrap began.

Not sure exactly why is changed, but i imagine the level of heat the rear tires gave off, the dirt build up after drift days, and the fact the I never took that great care of the outside are definitely factors.

Next, after burning up a ton of coil packing wires last year, @Tkuhn rerouted a couple things and make everything quick disconnect so if they burn up I can just plug a new set in instead of rewiring. Currently designing some clips to hold the connectors down.

 

Still fighting cooling issues, i finally decided to install an oil cooler with the s54 oil filter housing @DrLeadFoot sold me like a year ago. Putting the cooler in the brake duct/fog should provide the freshest air possible. 

Getting into 3D printing awhile back I designed and printed some custom ducting to get all the air flow possible. Pictures are of the V1.2 duct, V1.3 (last ducting picture) has been printed with small changes to make fit up to valance perfect. I have some plans for 3D printed radiator ducting, but those plans are on the back burner till the car is up and running.

Lastly, the whole kit on the car got fixed and freshened up along with ditching the IS side skirts I had on the car for something that a little lower. 99% of the car will be white this year rather than the white with black lower ascents.

Update Update Update! Pretty much just been working on finish up the body while i wait for my new motor setup

Been a hot minute, but still have the car. Just never made an update.

Car is tuned and is a rocket ship. Because of the manifold design, the waste gate had to moved to turbo housing.

Before waste gate modifications, we saw boost levels of 26+ psi while the car was at the dyno. While the number it produced was impressive, it would have broken everything

With waste gate modifications we have 100%  control and car is making 450 whp at 10-11 psi on pump gas.

One more event this year then who knows what will happen next...... 

Got a hold of some footage. Still in my break in period at 7 psi.

Spent a couple hours and whipped up this radiator beauty cover. Pretty happy but the next one will turn out better  

 

Finished the prep work, primed everything, and paint laid down really well but i didn't have enough to paint the trunk. Oh well that's another days project.

About that time of the year to throw together a build update. Going to start with a photo dump, will go into detail eventually.  Ill get to everything eventually, but let me know what you would like to hear about.

It also makes more low end torque than max whp.... Starting standstill burnouts in 3rd gear has been a reoccurring thing throughout the year.

I've been making these cylinder head block off plates for awhile now and thought I would also offer them on WIBimmers for anyone who hasnt seen them. Stop shoving rags into intake/exhaust ports when removing intake/exhaust manifolds.

Right now offering them for M20, M50/52/54 S50/52, and S54. I also can make them for other engines for anyone interested.

Just about have all the bugs worked out. Clutch master cylinder decided to go a few hours into drift day 58 this last Sunday. Car felt and drove extremely well and cannot wait till drift day 59.

Finally found a couple hours away from school to get some work done. Ally my wheel parts are here and ready to assemble. Quarters cut,sealed and ready to rivet my overs on. Front fenders are almost finished and wrap color is picked out and ready to order once i get my taxes back. Pictures because i take pride it doing stuff the right way!

Figured i'm well overdue for an update.

 

Gone for awhile, but im back. Winter Build has started again. After never having my car actually run consistently i have decided to ditch this outdated chip tuning. The new MS3ProPNP has been order and should be dropping the car off to get tuned at the beginning of the new year!!!

Picked up the paint gun for the first time in about a year. Turned out pretty alright.

With my s50 turbo e30 pretty much wrapped up for the year i am thinking about opening up my shop to do work on other cars. Can do anything that i have done on my car (I have a small build thread on here). Very familiar with E30's and E36's. Any interest or questions send me a message or shoot my at text @ 920-948-0040. Just seeing this now but i believe I have one laying around at the shop. Can look later when I get there if you are still looking for one.

Motor started knocking last week and came out. Turns out rod bearing #6 spun but once we started grinding the crank down the journal on #6 was cracked which we believe to be the culprit. Motor should of been rebuilt and back in the car in less than a week but was sent rod bearing for a euro s50 not us. Motor got all new bearings, rings, new gaskets, new oilpump, one rod, dual valve springs and titanium retainers and keepers, and a whole lot of cleaning. Timing was very inconvenient but shit happens. 

Finished assembling the motor and got it back in the car this weekend. Drives perfect just doesn't idle and wants to shut itself off when coming to a stop.
