These are some neat projects.  We finally finished out basement as well.  Bought the house 7 years ago.  Basement was sorta finished, but just very white-box-ish.  So after a couple years we added a bathroom, then demo'd the rest, then it sat until the end of last year.  Finally got moving and finished it.

Basically how it started last year....we have pics of what it looked like when we moved in somewhere.  The whole ceiling was dropped and had conduit everywhere.  In these pics, the ceiling is gone and I relocated all the wires into the joist like they were supposed to be.

Here I have a bunch of the bar framed in and the plumbing pretty much done.  Had to dig a sumpcrock into the floor then route everything overhead.  I hired someone to do the framing but did the electric and plumbing, just to keep the project moving.

Ran a second zone of HVAC too.

Opened up the stairwell and added stair lights.

Exercise was staying the exercise room so it became a temporary home to a lot of crap

It was not fun getting things down the stairs, but having it opened helped A LOT

The movie room stayed the movie room but we had to fix the back wall (left side in pic) and the ceiling got insulated and painted black.

I hired out the drywall too.  😦

Then....the coolest part.  We unpackaged everything we had been storing for 7 years from our old house.

Got it all organized.  Installed my lights and shelves in the towers.

We are still working on some things.  Decorations.  I want to build a bar sign for between the 2 towers.  It was a fun/stressful/rewarding/expensive project.

I really want to buy an e30... Hmmmm.

We all do.  It's like some sort of side effect you get from BMW ownership.  You buy any BMW at any time and after a while all of a sudden this weird feeling starts creeping over you, something you just can't explain.  It can go on for years before you finally identify it as 'I want an e30'.

Not exactly sure but a good way to approach it is this:

You:  Hello, I'm interested in that 02 Coupe over there

    Salesdouche:  Oh, that black one?

    Y: Yes, the Black coupe

S: Hmm, well, that is one of the nicest cars here.

Y: Why is that, I mean, I like it, but there are a lot of nice cars here.

S: True, however that one is a 6speed Manual and a coupe.

Y: Right, I know.  Anyway, I'm looking to trade in my 03 here

    S. The Silver one.....it looks like there is something wrong with the top of the car, what is the deal?

Y: There is nothing wrong, see the top works fine.

    S: Oh, it's a convertible.....yeah, see this 02 is a coupe.

    Y: Yeah, I know

S: Ok, so you see it's superiority

    Y: Um, whatever.......so....

S:  Woah!  Yours is an SMG?!?

Y: Yeah, but it shifts fi.....

S: I'm sure it does, but you realize this 02 is a 6 speed?

    Y: Yes, I know....Listen, I'm interested in the 02, but I'd like to trade my 03.

S: You want me to just 'trade' you this Black 02 6 Speed coupe for your Silver 03 SMG convertible?   Just like that, like it's no big thing?

Y: Well, I know I'd probably have to throw in some cash on the deal, mine does have more miles

S: MORE MILES!?!  WTF are you trying to pull here?  First off, this 02 is Black, an obviously superior color.  I think all cars that aren't black do a disservice to all cars.  Second, this is a 6 Speed, y'know, like a real car, with a shifter and a clutch?  BMW's are the ultimate driving machine, not Kayaks, they aren't supposed to have paddles.  Finally, this car in a coupe.  That is REAL metal over your head, shit gets crazy your hair won't be the only thing between your skull and the pavement.  The ONLY thing you have going for you is that yours is an 03, which is technically newer, but I don't even really like 2003 in general, my wife left me that year...that bitch.

Y: OK, so.....is there a way we can work out a trade?  I get all your points, sorry about your wife, you are probably better off.

S: WHAT!?!  I loved her, she was the greatest woman on earth!  You litle piece of shit......listen, here is what I'm going to do.  I'm going to write a number on this peice of paper, that number is what you are going to have to pay me, on top of taking your 03 on trade, OK?

    Y: Geez, sorry.......OK, but I might counter

S: There will be no counter, I write a number and that is what it will be, you don't like it?  Take your car somewhere else....

Y:  OK, OK, write the number.

    And then you pay that.

What do you mean? I just thing gas trucks are kinda gay. I used to use my parents suburban for towing. But compared to my friends duramax. It sucks ass. I mean. Unless you like listening to that 350 struggle to tow 5000lbs on flat land. The newer gas motors are a lot better. They have come a long way and at the same time. All the emission laws have ruined new diesels. So if my arm was being twisted and I was forced to buy something 2006 and newer. I'd get a 6.2 vortec 2500/3500.

Exactly what I thought.  You do realize there are other uses for trucks than hauling fifth wheels over 100,000lbs, right?  Uses that legitimately require the size and power of a truck, but not the grunt of diesel.

In your world, there would only be full size diesel duallys and compact cars, correct?  So, if I wanted to get a sheet of plywood, or pick up a set of wheels, I would have to own and operate my 50k+ diesel dually to do it, right?

I pulled plenty with my gas trucks.  I pulled a huge enclosed racecar trailer, and had more power than I knew what to do with, granted, I'm not denying a diesel wouldn't have done better, but on the other 6 days of the week when I wasn't pulling the trailer it would have been completely overkill.

I don't understand the mentality of diesel guys thinking that the truck must be pulling something at all times.  When you go buy your diesel, how will you get it home?  Will you have another diesel truck bring a spare trailer so you can hook it up before you drive it home?  If you don't you risk some douche bag making fun of your grocery getter truck and telling you to get it dirty and haul something.

I've been told by many people that I don't even own a truck because it's not a heavy duty or a diesel.  I just don't understand I guess.

So I got this thing running legit, and know how to use it mostly.  The 10GA 304 Stainless that is on there in the pic is giving me fits, but the thing is bad-ass.  If you guys are looking for something custom that this would help with let me know.

  • Do you run a front plate?
    R REKIII
    BMW Discussion

The reason the state would get rid of the plate is to save funds.  It would cut the cost of plates (for them) in half.

The police are very against getting rid of it  The reason they tell us is to more easily identify stolen cars.  If a car doesn't have a front plate, they assume it's stolen, because thieves only bother to steal a rear plate then ditch the front plate.....OK.  The REAL reason they want to keep front plates is because it is a perfect spot to bounce the radar/laser off your car.  9 times out of 10, if you get pulled over for no front plate it's because they couldn't get a decent radar of your speed and they are butthurt about it.

I'm curious why you say that. I'm a huge fan of dinan. But I'm also not an e39 guy. Unless this guy crashes it and I buy it 😅

I've been primarily involved in the e39 M5 world, but there are a lot of guys that will literally ejaculate all over a Dinan badged car.  To them Dinan is the epitome of automobile evolution and technology.  They actually become angry when they realize they can't buy Dinan tires or gas for their cars.  It's really weird and irritating.  What I've experienced is that Dinan stuff is good, but wildly overpriced and only first because they get first had touches on new BMW stuff through BMW factory......so of course it will be first.  They charge a premium for that.

So, if you come out to your car and there is white crusty stuff on the rear end, you know what it is.
