Official Randomness Threadmy car died on the way to get the alternator replaced....trans fail safe, lit up like a christmas tree, no power to move the car. three miles from the shop and I had to get it towed....when it rains it pours i guess....

*&@^%~!!!!!I can definitely tackle the job with my roommate, but again, if it's got a warranty on the part, I will let the dealer deal with it. As for the upper control arms, it was mainly a matter of time for me. The parts were 300, an alignment would have been in the neighborhood of 100 plus, so i wasn't out that much more having a shop do it. As for the cooling overhaul, not sure. I know I can get most of the service history since the majority was done at International Autos

*&@^%~!!!!!If it's not one thing it's another...
Bought my 540 last november with 102k on the clock, super clean. Dealer I bought it from replaced the alternator when he took it in on trade (not a cheap date by any means) and all was well. I buy the car, and 7k miles later I have to do rear upper control arms. Fine, done, $538 later I left the shop with it just two days ago. Now, today I get in to move it and get my mustang out and bam, I'm staring at a big red battery light and the car is reading 10.8 volts on the radar detector. Great, alternator is shot, called the guy I bought it from and he said to call him monday if the alt he put in (new btw) has a warranty, I will be happy and he will be getting dirty, if not, I'm gonna be one pissed off mother @%^&er!!!
Sorry, just had to vent. Thanks for listening

I guess I'll start one here. Squeaky ventsYES!!! It is only when the temps are below freezing, and gradually worse the colder it gets. Past week it hasn't made a peep!

A few quick pics of my toys...Thanks! Headlights are OEM, I have yet to touch them. They do need new adjusters, so that's on the list for this spring/summer. Otherwise, I did just put the sport wheels back on the car monday night, all black and ready for spring!
Anyone know any good powedercoating places in the milwaukee area? I did the wheels as a temporary thing to see if I would like it and now I want them powdercoated in a matte/semi-gloss finish.

I guess I'll start one here. Squeaky ventsYeah, I figured that was going to be the case. Thanks for the info, looks like I will be tackling this come end of summer or whenever it becomes consistent. Still very intermittent right now, so I'm not too worried yet.

I guess I'll start one here. Squeaky ventsSo my e39 has developed an intermittent squeak/squeal in the vents when the heat is on. Blower motor bearing? It increases/decreases in correlation with the fan speed. Any easy/cheap fixes without tearing the dash apart? It seems to happen only when it's really cold out.

A few quick pics of my toys...Thanks guys! The cobra is a blast to drive, and I agree, the front bumper and hood make a huge difference in the look of the car, kinda like the m5 bumper on the e39's. That's one of the things I want to do, either that or a front lip...something is just missing from the front end.

A few quick pics of my toys...A few pics of the cars for right now, once I get a chance to really clean the 540 I will get proper pics up but I bought it in november so no real time to detail it before winter...
The GTI is my roommates car....fun lil bugger too!

Dirty Delphin Progression Threadlooks like a fun project! would be kinda cool to do the headliner to match the boot/shifter. Something different for sure!
