Our N54  '10 535i E60 has been introduced to the Wi weather this week and the BMW battery has meet its match in the -20deg. weather.

With a discharge warning at each start , until it finally said no more Wednesday morning. With a 10 min boost on the charger, she started and ran fine all day.

battery says  61212357334 (110Ah/850CCA). google tells me BMW black =AGM , White = lead-acid, this one is black, but looks like a standard lead-acid.

    Size looks like a standard H9 /95R.

What is it?   Can anyone locally register the new one for some suds?

leave it up to BMW to make changing a battery an ordeal which requires competent shadetree mechanics to scratch their heads.

Yup,  I can replace the m62tu chain guides, and rebuild a SBC with my eyes closed, but a battery replacement needs you to fly in a engineer from Deutschland.

Looks like I have a standard lead-acid battery. More confused googling shead some light on the BMW agm battery.

All agm batteries will be labeled as sealed-Don't open, AGM, or VRLA.

Registration isn't as big of a deal as the internet makes it out to be.  A lot of manufacturers have jumped on this band wagon recently with even most Ford vehicles requiring registration since 2016.  Where are you located?  I may be able to help out with registration.  It's really not the end of the world if you don't get it registered other than you MAY reduce the battery life.  Other than that you would have no idea if someone registered it or not.
