Probably not as common because it clearly has some clearance issues Clarence

Not worried about the motor torquing into the bottle?

Not really , delrin motor mounts. That was the old setup. New setup is remote.

Got the new res. set up and did a bunch of work in regards to exhaust and the front end of the car. Should be able to give it the first start this upcoming weekend if everything goes to plan.
A shopmate's girlfriend picked this up from a guy that had it in a climate controlled storage unit. It had been stored since 1997, with the tags on the plate to prove it.
He dumped the "gas" and replaced all of the fluids and the fuel filter. It fired right up. Five spd 85 535i with 140k miles. Pretty cool car!
It is absolutely amazing how good of shape it is in, there is so little rust, and at that it's only faint surface rust.Hopefully if I get the car running next weekend I will be able to drive it shortly thereafter, because snow is on the forecast and the e30 doesn't deserve salt!

Got the front end of the car all together, and got it running and driving!
The first time driving it was a huge disappointment, it just didn't feel right. The pedal position didn't seem to matter much in terms of power, it didn't feel smooth, and just didn't feel quite right. I changed the spark plugs from cheap plugs to less cheap plugs and viola it felt quite a bit more proper, and things seem to be working the way they should. I still have an idle issue that I haven't dug too far into yet, and my unloader relays aren't grounding, so I need to take care of those things and all should be well.
I still have the 2.93LSD in the car, and I was expecting it to be quite a slouch; but I was wrong. The m52 makes a lot more torque than the m50, and it is quite amusing to scoot around short shifting.
I'm just glad to have the car back on the road! The chassis feels fantastic compared to my 205k mile e46! -
Do a burnout.
I kind of did in the shop, the clutch is a lot more touchy then I remembered... lol

No boost this time?
Breaking the rebuilt motor in the more proper way. Known good tune, no boost, 1k miles of normal running to get things seated. Then we throw the snail back on.

Update : The car is quite a lot of fun. I have been driving it a lot.
This whole driving vs. working on a car thing is odd.....

I thought you were supercharging it now...
-
Yeah Ben. Buy the supercharger from my friend. You know you want to

Give her the beans! break in time is too slow.

Yea to me a proper break in, is a few heat cycles, oil change, and full boost dyno runs.

What are you gentlemen running for sway bars? I ran ST's in my 318 and was happy with them, but curious what others run.
I went to an auto-x event yesterday, and was not thrilled with the way the car performed. I was running very slow times, and the tires didn't sound happy most of the day. I can see plenty of body roll through corners and through the slaloms and am thinking upgraded sway bars would help snug things up a bit. I am currently on stock sway bars.
The event was fun, my gearing is not. Running a 2.93 resulted in being out of the power band most of the time, yet we were cruising down the highway at 3200+ rpm on the way home. -
Feel free to critique, yes my hands are all over the wheel, I need a tighter ratio rack....
-
I ran stock sways for my first auto x and blew the mounts of the subframe. I have yet to drive the car but I installed 22/19 ST with adjustable endlinks

Long time no update!
New clutch master ordered, old one wasn't doing too well. Never go with used parts when doing a manual swap!
New tires put on (Dunlop Direzza ZII's) to replace the 4k mile BFG's (one gouged tire, wouldn't hold well in corners)
Lots of WOT...... like, a LOT.
Got tim's e30 running, it is many times faster than mine.
Drove with Collin.
Picture dump time. Just kidding, things are being weird. This will have to do for now.
