WANTED: e30 sport seat rebuilder
-
Sup guys. Anyone have experience with rebuilding the mechanisms on e30 sport seats and would like to practice more on my seats?
I have the pair I will be using along with a donor set that is pretty trashed but mechanisms look a lot better. Let me know! -
i actually have a crusty set of e30 sport seats in storage that I planned on refurbishing for my e34. what is wrong with your mechanisms? anything broken that needs welding?
-
Some of the adjustments don't really do their job anymore and the sliders are a little crusty. Don't think they need any Welding tho. Not 100% since I haven't really looked too closely at it. May be easier to just swap over the complete mechanism from the donor seats to the ones I'm using. Who knows tho.

I have experience with e21 seat sliders. They're a pain to work on, and they still don't work properly. Not worth the effort IMO.
The sliders are the least of my worries. I've gotten then to move fairly easily after cleaning them up and applying grease, working it back n forth. It's the adjustment levers and side mechanisms that need the most work.

well are you in any sort of hurry? I would gladly help, but want to tinker with my own first, as i have only done minor repairs before and wouldnt want to ruin yours. I probably will pull mine out in the spring.

Not in a hurry per say. I would need them done by the time the roads are snow/salt free is my only time restraint.
