528e engine is the M20B27 which is in the 325e, which can be made to be a "2.7i" using e30 325i cylinder head, injectors, harness, ecu, manifold, afm, and a few other items.

Do they use the same exhaust manifolds?

the "i" and "e" manifolds can be bolted on either head, but the difference is that the "i" is dual 1.75" exhaust and the "e" is single 2" exhaust (i believe that is the right size) so if you find an aftermarket turbo manifold for an e30 325i, it can bolt up to your 528e head just fine. everything downstream will need to be adapted to fit due to the single vs dual exhaust setup.

I think I can get the split manifold to run twin turbos

SuperETA's (1988 528e) did come with the dual exhaust which is what I have. Downpipes and other exhaust parts besides the manifolds are not swappable between e30's and e28's

At least the turbo manifold wil work after that I have no problem making a custom exhaust to accommodate the turbo just something to squeeze a few more hp outta this slow turd lol
