Just read the last 8 pages... life seems so much simpler without those 12 extra valves haha :P

The headache is worth the outcome! I got a taste of the power and it is addicting. The only car that got me was that fox body 5.0 that was turbocharged and probably built. He got the jump on me and still didn't pull more than one car on me. Soon. Soon.

                  Finally got into the garage.

With my JB racing flywheel there is no flywheel lock hole so I just need to keep an eye on the tdc mark.

The cam locking tool that I got was a little too narrow. So I'm going to watch that with my eye too. Sketch yes. I need to get this on the road.

Got the timing set up and just need to torque down the exhaust cam bolts while there is torque on the tensioner.

Then is is all down hill from there.

Got the lower cover on and torqued down. Black RTV'd everything and used the gaskets so hopefully no leaks.

VAC damper is on but I'm waiting to torque the NEW crank bolt.

Should finish the timing in the next 48 hours.

                              So close yet so far.

Need to get all new block to engine mount bolts and torque & loctite them properly. Along with new motor mount bolts. The "stock" condor bolts have been beyond stripped. 0a2fa236f34cc46a75a219129a8c1a9d.jpg

                                  Finally made some good progress.

                                  Made my cam tool.

Documenting these spark plugs. Kummrow put these in. I will replace them and make sure they are gapped to .021 and facing away from the intake.

I use NGK 2288 in my m50, they have 2 grounds, and a protruding center electrode, they are also the factory plugs for the s50, I pulled a set from an m52 that said NGK on one side and BMW on the other.  My m50 came with Bosch 4 ground plugs that I replaced with the NGKs and gained 2mpg.  I looked up the x52 engines and they have a few other choices, so see if the plugs you have are any of them, there also may be different heat ranges required with a turbo setup which I do not know about.  I just know that I prefer NGK plugs.  Also now that I think about it...why would the x50 engines have different plugs than the x52 engines?  The heads, blocks etc are the same castings so any of them should be physically interchangeable, unless it is a piston clearance issue?

I use NGK 2288 in my m50, they have 2 grounds, and a protruding center electrode, they are also the factory plugs for the m50/52, I pulled a set from an m52 that said NGK on one side and BMW on the other.  My m50 came with Bosch 4 ground plugs that I replaced with the NGKs and gained 2mpg.  I looked up the Sxx engines and they have a few other choices, so see if the plugs you have are any of them, there also may be different heat ranges required with a turbo setup which I do not know about.  I just know that I prefer NGK plugs.

I was running the 4554s with good results.  I think these are comparable but I want to make sure they are set up the way I like even if it might be overkill or too detail oriented.
