Fun! At least it is a very evident issue.

Recommendation, use n54 exhaust manifold studs. They have a torx head on the end so you don't have to double nut every stud in. Doesn't really matter now, but just good info to get out there!

I'm glad to see you digging into this again!

Motor is at C&S. Hopefully they can bring it back to life. Cylinder #2 had water in it and was rusty.

I've seen that before, and it cleaned up with a quick honing.  Depends on how deep it is pitted though.  It will just retain oil better, some call it 'seasoning".

I love the positive vibes! Kinda nervous about this.

                🤢

Frustrating news! I'd like to see a picture of the crack if you can take one.

                What is next? S52+2?

Or finally going to get that Cobalt SS you've always wanted?

She gone.  Gotta pick it up from C&S and I will take pictures.

                                  Asking for a friend:

He wants to boost but need an aluminum block so his e30 can still be an e30 when he wants to hit the twisties.  He was thinking LS2 with lower compression pistons. What head?  Cam?  He is a noob when it comes to the bowtie lifestyle so he asked me to thank you all in advance for any advise.
