What I am wondering is what are engine limitations, can they be 2stroke? Age restrictions? Is there certain days that you can run them on the drag strip? I read up on a lot of info online but it would be nice to know exact info from someone that had done it.

Wow....missed this.  My Cousin is now in his late 20's, os it's been a few years since they actually participated.  They usually go through a rule overhaul every few years. My relatives would have a little insight but nothing relevant.  I bet there are internet forums dedicated to this.

I often fantasize about someone giving me money in exchange for the e34... then reality comes flying back...

I've never understood the appeal of the 914.

Rich man's Beetle. I do think the 914 was the lowest car I have been in as far as seating position goes

914's are neat. 70-71 models are a pain to get parts for.

LS swap, coilovers, and some flared fenders and that things could be an auto-x monster.

For some reason I always liked the looks of these. Then again I also liked the old Karmann Ghias. There was a guy autoxing a 914 at Miller Park years ago. Slow but it looked like fun.

The PCA 914 guys looked like they were having a blast at RA. I've always liked them but I'm sure its like a first gen boxster, super disappointing to drive.

I honestly don't even know much about them. I saved a couple searches on ebay about 10 years ago, and never deleted them. (relatively)Recently it started popping up results from those searches when I go to the homepage. I threw in a $2000 bid when it was at $500 because why not. Makes my Tuesday evening a little more interesting. Of course now it's at $11,000 and I've lost all interest. Such is the life of a hipster wannabe.

Hoping to pick this up at an auction on Saturday for cheap.  It's an "M converted" 93 325i coupe that looks like at one time it was a pretty nice car.  It has M door sills, bump trim on the doors, bumpers, steering wheel, etc.  It has a bottom mount turbo of unknown quality/size, tubular style exhaust manifold rather than cast which seemed interesting. and quite a lot of janky fender stretching in back.  Complete with all the essential stickers on the back window such as "illest", "lowislife", "euro trash", "Stanceworks" etc.

I am not sure if the engine is original or not, the car is a '93 but the engine has vanos.  I don't know what month they started with that.  I think the injectors had green tops.  It still had a MAF, and some weird relief valve on the intake piping.  It looks to me like the hardware got installed and never quite go to the tuning stage.

                                        How much would you pay?

Assuming its a running turbo m50 car with a manual and proper tuning platform (TRM chip/aftermarket ECU)  Id feel really good getting it for anything less than $4000
