That would suck! lol. This is for drawing and sketching with my program. I can put a pen, pencil, sharpie, etc into my plotter cutter and have it draw/sketch whatever I design.

Don't want to offend anyone or leave anyone out, especially these days. Something for all. 😛

The eff is this, and more importantly, does it actually work:

Ha.  Do they work?  Well....what is your definition of working?

There are 4 high strength springs in between the 2 metal plates.  You slide it in the diff then remove the little plates on the ends that are holding it together.  This allows the large metal plates to press against the faces of the gears, this pressure stops a bit of the slipping when the torque causes the other wheel to spin in an open diff.

Does it work?  Technically.  How well they actually work is up to the user.  In my opinion they don't work very well, the amount of force on the face of the gear will not be enough to keep the diff locked, or even limit the slip to any noticeable degree, the key word, 'noticeable' it does technically do what it says, just not in a noticeable way.  What they do do well is keep the diff tight and less chance of sudden explosion.  They are far from an LSD though.

Makes sense, I didn't understand how these things were supposed to work in the first place.. Guess I'll have to get an LSD the ol' fashioned way; spending cash money.

I've heard of similar things being done with a carefully machine block between the spider gears, but never seen one with springs in it.

Wouldn't expect it to work well or last long. Metal against metal doesn't make a great friction surface, and you'll end up with shavings floating around in the lube...
