I came across a fun decision Volkswagen made when they did the front subframes on mk4's. The front control arm bolt threads into a captive nut. This captive nut is not friction welded or spot welded to the subframe. They used an adhesive to adhere it. I was one of the no so lucky many who happened to break a captive nut free when removing one of the control arms. Time to open a hole in the subframe and tack the bugger back in place haha. Luckily the other side stayed put=)
must be a long history of cutting corners to make more monies

Pads are in tight, car is regularly cleaned (brooke is meticulous) car has been oiled as well in the "prone to high rust" areas

You've never owned an e36 in the winter have you? These fog lights are little disasters waiting to happen. BMW only used the most brittle of lenses and theres not an aftermarket out there any stronger. It's not will they break but when.

That's why I swapped my fogs for a $20 pair from amazon, ran a bead of silicone around the joint between the lense and the fog body to keep condensation out (the cheap ones seal like crap), and then stopped caring. If/when they break, not the end of the world and I'll get another pair with two day shipping haha. Its loads better than worrying about fogs that are like $70 a piece...

Just chiming in to agree that winters are brutal to E36s. Mine rusted like a SOB in one winter and pretty much fell apart.
