BMW v8 engine coffee table project

Awesome!!
-
Attention to detail that rivals actual builds, let alone a table! Where do you go to find glass? Or just grab it from a piece of furniture?
-
Lisbon storm screen and door can cut a piece of glass for the table no problem
-
thanks guys! i bought the tempered glass from a seller on ebay. i watch craigslist forever, but the sizes that would have worked never came up for sale.
-
the clay requires a water-based paint to seal it, and the Spaz stix chrome final coat requires a black based undercoat, so two birds with one stone:
couldnt find any water-based spray paints at the hardware store, so had to go to an art supply shop for the paint 'Liquitex' was on sale.

just waiting for it to dry before chrome finish.

just another random parts shot

-
well, the headers are painted! the chrome came out pretty good, definitely better than store-bought chrome. i'm happy with the 'welds' even though my wife informed me they look nothing like welds.

-
Tell your wife to weld them then. Looks good Dan
-
thanks, chums. block is being painted now, and then the whole thing is pretty much done!
-
Hot damn this thing is awesome!

I started following this thread somewhere around the beginning and what I saw was incredible. BUT.... for some reason the pictures are no longer available on my work browser (stupid internet regulations) and now every time I notice a new update I die a little inside knowing I can't see.
-
i use imgur to host images, i can imagine that site being blocked by work IT departments.
after imageshack went PAID, i lost all my hosted internet photos from my entire life, and had to find something else free/easy. sorry!
-
intake manifold done.
throttle body and pcv installed with new hardware

injectors painted blue for a little color. the studs/nuts above them are the inside mount for the glass piece to rest on, made from all m60 parts.
hopefully it will look good once all together, but i can always change it.

What kind of oil are you using for break-in?
due to the light use, I'm thinking EVOO.
