What are the different ratios for the E30 LSD diff. I have one here that looks like a 3:40

where did you get this LSD? 3.40 is not a diff ratio, but the 3.46 is close. how did you determine that number, by the tag or by rotating the diff?

heres the best list i could compile:

      e30 U.S. OE LSDs:

      2.93

      2.79

      3.73

      3.91

      4.10

      4.27

      4.45

      others (from other models/etc):

      3.46

      3.25

on an unrelated note, how much fun would a 4.45 diff be? torque monster!

Tag is rusted. Got it from rotating the diff. What models carry this diff.

the 3:46 diff didnt come with e30s. i think E24/E28s had them back in the day, and the newer ones from the z3/mcoupe are also compatible.

Therefore the diffs from the e24 and e28 are interchangeable with the E30. This one came out from a 1990 325is.

and you are sure its a 3.46? was the e30 owned by someone who upgraded it in the past?

i couldnt say that all of the diffs from the e28 and e24 are compatible, i think some were large case and wouldnt work.

Yes, marked Input pinion and marked axel bearing to housing. And it lines up to around 3:40
