Track Crash.... Project/Build Thread
-
So the body guy is almost finished putting the body back together.
So pics are:
-New Trunk, new rear body panel (under trunk where first connection was made). You can also see the new rear tail light section.
-New Passenger side rear frame rail (went with a whole new factory rail)
-Whole inner trunk rebuilt (combination of new metal, hammered out original... Looks rough right now, but will look sweet once all of the welding is done).
-New quarter set to the original door.
All the gaps look stock already. Final work is painting and blending (should be fun, as the donor was midnight blue).

7 days later and still no M3 ?

Yes... Sadly. Weekend temps sub 50 degrees killed that in a hurry. So my exhaust appointment for Friday and my wheel install/corner balance for next week all have to be moved. Bad times. Still trying to shoot for a track day at the end of this month. Hopefully we can roll together.

Well, I got the car back from the body guy... great work pure and simple. Repairs look great and the blend spots are amazing. Took the car for the exhaust work. Shop took two weeks... did amateur welds... and charged me almost a grand for two and a half feet of stainless steel... I'll leave the name out to protect them. Put a new racing seat in the passenger side as well as a harness. I got most of the wiring done, just need to wire a switch for the fans. Beyond that it's some safety testing, creating scoups for the new oil cooler, and bleeding the brakes.
Big Bear Tire... they are my go to shop for all things wheel and suspension. They are doing a full corner balance and giving me new Star Specs 275 squared
While setting things up they noticed that the aluminum shock cup in the rear was bent and done for... so they are buying a junk yard rear for me to use and get everything back up to working order. Should be picking it up on Friday or Saturday this week. So close to the finish line...

My buddy sent me a picture of your car at Big Bear!

What Earl said. He used to work for me and went to Big Bear when I was promoted to a different location.
