Chapter GMW | E30 LS1 (starting on post #1427)
-

Finally!
Trans time.
-
I'll be joining in the same escapade shortly=)
As will I!
-
We're in this together, guys!!
-
Shift pin time.
Love the ice pick.

Slide hammer the caps out.

Ready to pull out the pins. I used a J-hook screw to extract them out. (The thicker screw hook to hang flower pots or decorations. Not pictured.)

Once the pins are out drive in the Teflon collar with the correct punch. Make sure the gap in the collar points out to the right or left of the trans.

All at home.

Drop some gear oil in the hole and install the pins and springs.

Drive the caps home with the correct punch.

All done!

This is a zf trans? What is the issue that you need to do this?
Sent from my potato phone
Just doing some preventive maintenance before I pop it in. Got to do the reverse and 5th gear maintenance too.
-
With the correct tools that I bought this took me 30 min.
-
Did you buy new springs too?
For the shift pins, yes.
-
It's been awhile since I updated this. Nothing too big to report.
I met up with Snap yesterday at the applebees parking lot to do a powder exchange. He had his kids in the car to be super undercover...
Also cleaned up, lubed, installed new gates and springs in the passenger key cylinder.

Also bought a battery tender.
-Need to finish up the trans mission's 5th and reverse pins.
-Order a brass pivot thing.
-rear main seal.
-pilot bearing.
-install clutch.
-install trans.
-install diff.
-change all the oils.
-
Hahaha. I forgot about that. The FBI has to have some pictures! Only if your kids were old enough to know what daddy was up to.
-
Finally got the 5th and reverse pins on the new to me ZF trans. I was in a hurry and accidently pushed the old reverse bushing into the transmission and then I had two open houses (5726 N. Lydell and 3515 N. Summit). I was sick to my stomach the majority of the day.
With some new needle nose pliers and a magnit I got it out.

Some other random pics testing my new lens.

Also took some detailed pictures of my wing. I forgot to set the camera to the best detailed pictures. It is at its lowest resolution setting.

-
Pretty awesome wang
Snap wants your buns
-
Pulled the pilot bearing and did some passenger door work.

Before:

After:

Got some things powder coated by Snap. Great color match and top quality!!!!

Test fitting the puller:

Got me a Marlin!

New bearing installed.
