Looking at picking up a silver 99 328i with 159,286 mi this week. Seller is asking $6,300 but I'm going to shoot for $5,500 cash money. The car is so clean I can't believe it actually has that many miles on it. Any opinions about this year or model? Good buy? I'm kind of in a hurry to buy. My E30 isn't really trustworthy for bigger trips and it's just beat up. Plus, being a fire fighter it always seems my E30 wont start when I'm on call. So regardless I'm getting a car this week.

I would absolutely get a PPI done before dropping that much on a car. Just because its new and clean doesn't mean it was really well taken care of. Anybody can drop a car off at a detailer and have it looking brand new..

It's for sale at a trusted dealership in Wausau. I've talked to the general manager about it and going to go check it out in person Friday. My family has bought a lot of cars from them and the GM is a close family friend. They have certified it so it'll come with a pre-owned warranty. I still plan on doing a full inspection for myself. If all goes well it'll be sitting in my driveway Friday night.

So, the dealership sold the car before I could get there.. Sad day. But on the bright side I can just buy a starter and save up some more money for a nicer car.
