E39 Overheating

Hey!! New to this site and hopefully able to get some input. My 01 530i keeps overheating after several "thought to be the problem" fixes.

Including....

Radiator

Overflow resevoir tank that had a small crack

Coil packs

Fan Clutch

We have taken alot of time to bleed thinking thats the issue. Still no luck. A local shop said its a hsad gasket...but hopefully its something else that could be checked.

I would have done the thermostat and water pump right away.

Thanks. I forgot that on the list of things tried.

Also I didnt mention the heated/ac does not work as well.

"Doesn't work" as in blower motor doesnt blow air ? or it blows air, it just isnt warm.

Remember that you need to have the heater valve open (heater on hot) while bleeding the cooling system to prevent air  from being trapped in the heater core.

If you replaced the water pump and thermostat and that was not it you most Likely need a head gasket after the overheat the first time I would. Check the coolant tank pressure while running check spark plugs for discoloration.

Pressure rest the coolant system and leak test the cylinders.

Like snap said make sure you bleed the cooling system untill you have heat or the car will always over heat

Dont fix it let it sit in your driveway for 3 months. Thats what Ive been doing with mine lol. I dont overheat just coolant leak and Ive replaced all the same you have minus water pump :/. When were you headgaskets last done?
