What are the rules about the blue collector plates? I think it is the same cost as hobbyist. Much less ugly in my opinion. I think both types of registration do not allow you to drive during January which I assume shouldn't be an issue for you. I may try to register for the blue collector plates next year on my e36. I wouldn't want the green plates though.

I don't need them yet..... But I will shortly.
Been reading up - seems hobbyist is the way to go.... But they say you cannot drive the car until you receive the plates from the DMV (which can take 4 weeks). I think I'll just transfer my other plates for now, and do the hobbyist next summer so I can drive the car for a bit yet before the snow falls.
Paint shop is saying car could be done as early as this Friday, next Monday/Tuesday at the latest!!! Looking forward to getting some driving in before snow, coils should be here by the end of this month.... Then comes a long winter of "tear apart - rebuild".

The "Collector" plates say you must be stock (unmodified) which won't work with the E30. The "Hobbyist" is for "street modified" cars....
Correct - can't drive either in January without a temporary plate ($30). Won't matter to me - this car won't see snow while I own it.

99% go on BC's (just awaiting a friends distribution info to go through to process order).
Getting SUPER anxious to get the car back. Paint work is running $1800, but that's rep staying entire passenger side, front, and good.... So exterior should be looking great when I get it back!

I had collector plates on my 89 chevy that was slammed with a jegs 350 crate motor. (<--not stock)
took the pics in to the dmv and everything. got it plated no problems.
ran them on my last e30 too. (same plates that i had on the truck)
one of the main things is that you cant drive the collector-plated vehicle in the month of January.'
it also takes forever to get them, but its not too difficult to run them on a modified vehicle

I understand E30's go "toe in" when dropped - is that correct? How does one correct it and make adjustable?

My wife's family - and my family - do gift exchanges for Christmas.... So on Thanksgiving you need to have a finalized list for both families (we pick names and exchange lists on Thanksgiving).
Car could be done at paint as early as tomorrow.... Getting super anxious to get it back.
More parts are arriving from GAP on Saturday, hoping I can install them and buff/wax car on Saturday!

I have the Ireland Engineering 80 durometer "street" subframe and trailing arm bushings. I matched this setup with an 80 durometer Powerflex diff mount. I honestly could tolerate something stiffer such as 90 durometer for all the rear bushings. It is a good idea to match durometers.
I would probably prefer rubber as bushing material but the polyurethane pieces are extremely easy to install. The car is very tight, feels like a new BMW, but like I said, I could tolerate more harshness. The RTABs do squeak just a tiny tiny bit. If I did it again I would either use more grease or use copper grease on them. I am happy with my purchase though.

Crossing my fingers that the car is done today! It was soo nice yesterday, I was itching to have the car back and driving!
Gotta get some highway miles on it this week, I'm supposed to take the car to Arc Asylum in GB on Saturday to have them model up a prototype skidplate using my car.
