E28 manual swap

I'm just starting this up cause last night I completely fried my auto in my e28 and mostly need pointers on how to do the manual swap

From personal experience: If you have the time, remove the engine and do everything from outside the car. 

You will need some decently tall jack stands either way.

I told you a little bit about it a Dubs Downtown. You're parts car is a manual correct? Taking the parts off that would teach you how to put it back on. I could give you a write up later tonight when I get home. Basically if you know how to change a clutch, thats a majority of the work.

I was thinking about swapping everything the engine and trans the parts cars engine runs smoother and doesn't sound like a diesel

Honestly wouldn't be adding much more at that point.

Once the trans is out, taking out the engine isn't a whole lot more of work at that point. Especially if you just drop the subframe with the engine.

Ok gotcha I was thinking maybe do the turbo and bigger injectors at that point too...

Anyone done a rack and pinion swap to an e28? If so what's the best route of going?

I dont imagine that to be a very difficult project though a little bit of mount fabrication would be anticipated. The main thing to look out for is the height that the steering rack would be mounted at in order to minimize bump steer.
