Ron got some love last weekend.

• New brakes
• new wheels
• new center caps
• New shifter delrin washers
• New exhaust hanger and fixed the muffler
• New tie rod ends
• Repacked the front wheel bearings
• Lots scrubbing and a little paint where needed to freshen things up 
• New window crank

My friend swung out to get a new set of alpina wheels from "Ralph" the BMW guy I bought parts for my E24 from.  He manage to also grab a window crank and a repair manual while he was there. The wheels didnt have center caps but I luckily found some on eBay. The centers are a little yellow which is common, But I will see if I can find some way to polish the yellowing off. The rest is pretty straight forward, a standard brake job and cleaned and painted the calipers / hubs. I spent a good amount of time under the car with a brush and degreaser. It was amazing to just spray and wipe sections clean and find nice paint underneath. This car is in amazing shape, Im honestly baffled. 

Sadly my tire balancer died so I need too figure out how to fix that. I spent a good 4-6 hours on Sunday messing with it. So the wheels are currently not balanced, but I fit them on the car for now and noted that they need to be take care of.

Next things to tackle are 

• Valve cover gasket
• Adjust valves
• Clean up the carburetor
• Replace hoses
• New belts
• Fix the tach if possible
• Clean the interior
• Buff
• Drive it.

Sadly I old took pictures of the worn out parts as I was excited to get it back together. I will take pictures of the new hoses once I install the valve cover gasket.

Worked on this on Saturday and got it all back together. Cleaned most of the interior and exterior without going completely nuts. Never did an alignment which made for an exciting drive to lake mills for the last Cars & Coffee of the year. Afterwards I stopped at a friends house and I had NOOGs shoot some photos of the car. He hasnt sent me the photos yet, but here are some I took with my potato. 

I have a brake dragging that I need to attend to and the heat seems to be not blowing. So minimal items to be expected. I hope to have these resolved soon as I am hoping to drive this for a few weeks until there is white flakes in the forecast!

Thanks! Yeah my friends driveway is pretty spectactual. Its the perfect spot. Im hoping we can host a show & cruise there again next year that doesn't get rained out.

That's the plan. Its too original to modify, and I have to many irons in the fire as is. Im trying to thin the herd and put my focus back on the E30.

As some of you know, prior to the cruise this developed a small oil leak at idle. Seems like the VC bolts backed out a touch and the VC started to weep. I am glad it was a simple fix.

Prior to that I also noticed that a small clunk was developing up front. I assume since the car had more miles put on it in the last few months than it had in the past 10 years, things were going to show their age. I diagnosed that the steering rod joints had started to fail. I ordered a new one and installed it once it arrived. 

After installing I came to the realization that the only parts in the the assembly that were not replaced were the inner tie rods. They looked terrible against all the new parts and I was certain it was only a matter of time that I would need to replace them as well, so I ordered inner tie rods and replaced them too.

I string aligned the car and took it for a drive. Much better.
