I think just sitting for a long time. Cylinder #8 was corroded and was burning oil and fowling out the spark plug.

I need to become a realtor.

Fantastic! Do you know how its getting shipped yet? If its just a guy on Uship with a enclosed trailer I'd say the pallet is fine. If it ends up going a LTL (less than truckload) carrier I would consider making the pallet into a crate to reduce the risk of damage. You don't know how many times the pallet will be loaded/unloaded which increases the risk of damage from that process and careless fork lift drivers. Plus then the seller could just bubble wrap and set most parts on top of the motor/trans inside the crate.

I can help you with that!
Full disclosure, I'm pushing the limits pretty hard in the wife's eyes.

The box is coming on Friday!! I have 2 closings (11AM & 4PM) on that day so we will see how lucky I can get in terms of timing. The forklift driver leaves at 3 from where I'm getting it shipped to so I should be able make it work!
SO PUMPED!!!!

Getting off to a little slow start. During shipping, a caliper snuck under the oil pan and, a bunch of bumps later, cracked it. The guy I bought the motor from sent a "new" upper oil pan.
The oil pan and some other parts saw the parts washer.
Got the alternator and starter rebuilt for good measure!
Chip, chip, chipping away!

How much of the swap will you be tackling yourself vs. subcontracting?
The car is at my mechanic, Mike Burger's, house. I'll try to get out there and much as I can. Time is tight with a busy real estate market and a 2 month old and 2 year old at home.
I'm excited to start turning some wrenches on this. Once we get the oil pan sorted out then we will pull the motor and get cracking at everything.
Motor is on the engine stand! Upper oil pan gasket is coming Monday.
