      Vanos time is here!

After getting the top, front covers off it does look like the PO did do the timing chain and guides.

Engine looks relatively clean which makes me all warm and fuzzy on the insides.

Will be replacing the vanos units, vanos solenoids, chain tensioners and spark plugs.

Vanos is all done! The diesel sound is mostly gone.  Probably should have replaced the exhaust chains but this will do for now.

        Time to drive!

            Damn, only 180k too 😔

            Options:

            1. Replace M60B44 and life carries on

            2. Get a B40 bottom end and build a stroker motor. Car value raises to $20k on BaT.

            4. Commence GMW #2, worth $40k on BaT

            4.  S62 swap, car becomes worth $80k on BaT.

Not this one.  Going for a less custom option.

I think just sitting for a long time.  Cylinder #8 was corroded and was burning oil and fowling out the spark plug.

Fantastic! Do you know how its getting shipped yet? If its just a guy on Uship with a enclosed trailer I'd say the pallet is fine. If it ends up going a LTL (less than truckload) carrier I would consider making the pallet into a crate to reduce the risk of damage. You don't know how many times the pallet will be loaded/unloaded which increases the risk of damage from that process and careless fork lift drivers. Plus then the seller could just bubble wrap and set most parts on top of the motor/trans inside the crate.
