Welcome back! You won't remember me by username but I am the guy who bought that tranny off you from your 86 way back when. What happened to the original plans to do an LS swap?

Yeah I recall! You get that in? Im still looking for those poly bushings you had if you still had them. Negative on the LS, while it might have been way cheaper im still a huge OEM/Straight 6 fan and couldn't find the courage to alter the car in that fashion. I still have to get that car out of that POS garage and down to my hangar... that should be fun.

Do you do any mountain riding? Your commuter / Gravel X bike requires me to inquire.

GunMetalGrey, I think you bought that 89is from me a bunch of years ago. We traded some parts and wheels or something also I don't totally recall. Yeah, its an older Specialized Tri-Cross set up for mountain/gravel right now. It works well on hard packed mud/gravel, just have to work a bit harder on the asphalt... its a trade-off. It might be for sale too. It's a 56CM frame, I'm looking for an all road bike now that I've moved back here from out west.

Hot damn man, it's been awhile!
I actually just sold that car at the end of summer, it was quite a bit different from when I bought it from you!

Nooo! You can't convert back to a roadie! Just have to travel a bit for the hills!

Right, yeah I haven't done too much with cars besides get that 86 to where its at and maintain my Audi. The 86 I bought in 2014 from a guy that brought it up with him when he moved from Texas and it was a grandma car with blown struts, faded paint and a shot interior but rust free and straight otherwise.

Not in yet, working on fixing and refreshing a few things on the car before the motor goes in. Still got the bushings, shoot me a message and we can discuss bidness.

In for S52 swap progress posts. Do you have a timeline for that? Would be an awesome addition to see at the E30 picnic in May

No idea. As always the delicate balance of time and money. I can try to bust ass to make it happen... it’s not unrealistic, just keep pushing me along! Hahaha

Looks great!! Are the DS2's on adapters or did you do a 5-lug swap?

Nice, I have been thinking of selling my setup (but don't own any 4x100 wheels so I want to stay 5 lug) and have been considering switching to some sort of e36 m3 combination. Have you noticed any brake bias or handling differences from stock geometry/brakes?

Well considering the engine isnt in the car and its basically just a roller I have no opinions to share. Other than the brakes are massive and according to everything I've read the parts I've used are the best set up for the e30 in regards to handling improvement (late e36 m3 control arms up front)

Fair enough haha, it didn't click in my head that the empty engine bay pic went along with the suspension swap, I'm definitely interested to hear how you like it once it's on the road!

At this point im cleaning up the bay, Im going to tuck as much as I can and clean it up. Probably just paint the bay black and be on my way to engine install.

Alot of behind the scenes progress so to speak as far as acquiring information and components for my harness. I've got the harness out of the donor car, ill be working on getting that crossed over to utilize the C101 to mate to the chassis of the 86 e and deleting whatever isn't necessary. Also a ton of time spent cleaning up the engine and bay, deleting brackets for a mild wire tuck and chipping off and wire wheeling 20 years of crusties off the S52 cast block. Also still have to swap the pan and sump, build a dipstick with CCV and safety wire the oil pump gear on.

Im working on a complete list of things that have yet to be done so I can logically go about completing them so I don't have to back track! Ill get my list together and post it up so if you guys can help me out that way that would be awesome!!

Also what is this bracket for on the drivers side frame rail!?! I don't recall removing anything useful from there and I'm having a hard time seeing it in other e30 bay pictures and it doesn't exist on my 1991... you can also see it in the last picture I just posted above... this picture below is NOT mine. Not sure what hes doing but its the only thing ive found that references this bracket! Just want to know before I hack it off for my tuck!
