    From the first tacks

    IMAG1770zps159f2ce1.jpg

    To full tack

    IMAG1779zps5fc91e4a.jpg

    Sand/Grind

    IMAG1783zps7fc681ef.jpg

    Few layers of body putty.

    IMAG1786zpsb0797f41.jpg

And paint time, the car is VW Tornado Red from 09-13 so I ordered a can of that from automotive touch up paint (base-clear) and sprayed it

    IMAG1828zps8ca4feac.jpg

The clear coat didn't fade well and that was right after unmasking it, so I wetsanded it a bit to try to blend that a little better. End result.

    IMAG1833zps98928b62.jpg

    And from a distance

    IMAG1836zpscbc56c53.jpg

The paint is impressive for being a spray can, this is how it lays without touching it.

    IMAG1829zps8006f60b.jpg

Also touched up the spots in the engine bay

    IMAG1826zpse98e5e43.jpg

    IMAG1825zpsd73b92f8.jpg

As you can see got the new windshield in and the dash back in (that sucks...)

In the process of putting the dash back in I decided to remove the PO's aftermarket Viper alarm system.

    IMAG1830zpsd3978b41.jpg

Honestly a two year old could have bypassed it, all it consisted of was a splice in the black/yellow ignition switch at they key. Needless to say the install was a hack job and there were a few untaped open wires which may explain my random short....

Got the new gauge plate and test fitted that, I like the way it looks!

    IMAG1831zps491e6d0e.jpg

MegaSquirt got assembled, and cased up

    IMAG1809zpsa474af4f.jpg

    IMAG1817zpsafe9ede0.jpg

Nice clean package! The two bundles going into the ECU got covered by that black ribbed crap so now it looks a bit better.

Now to get the motor in the car! Waiting on some parts from Pelican and Penske to finish up the motor!

Awesome progress.  I think you should come over soon with your die grinder so we can put my new hood on the Miata.

Get this thing finished already so I can take some pics!

Waiting for paychecks to start flowing again to order my clutch, that costs way too many pennies.....

In other news got a 2.93LSD!

Clean that up and get it in the car, motor is chilling on its stand, waiting for a clutch and then it can go in the car.

Not sure yet.  Sounds like I might have to sell my sister's car (which means a little money for me) around 6:30pm , so I'm not sure when I'll do the suspension.  I'll text you later today.

                                    Updates!

Lets see, yesterday I dropped out my old diff (3.73lsd) which is already sold. I was not looking forward to doing the top two bolts on the diff and I went to go loosen it, seemed loose so I went up with my hand, sure enough they were both hand tight.... oops!

Changed the gear oil in the new diff (glad I did, the stuff that came out was black) I had enough left overs from previous changes to fill the new diff!

Rented a pilot bearing puller from advance to get my pilot bearing out, and that didn't work so I devised a little contraption of my own with a 2lb slide hammer

                                    IMG20130706132718603zps25904a87.jpg

Worked like a charm, and I am glad I did get the old bearing out, it was pretty rough.

                                    IMG20130706132727469zps70b1e6d8.jpg

Blue! And as you can see I got a set of Condor solid motor mounts, those should be interesting.

Got the water pump out, got the new one in and got the new thermostat in with new gaskets obviously.

Will be ordering the clutch today if everything goes right, and that makes me happy!

Also took this and thought it was pretty cool, loving the new Razr M

                                    More updates soon!

I rented a pilot bearing puller from oreillys when I did my clutch and the end was too big to fit into the bearing.  I used a contraption such as yours except just clamped a vise grip on the end of a rod and pounded on that with a hammer.  Also way back you said you needed an m50 starter, I assume you probably have one by now but if not I have an extra that you could save big money on.
