^Meh, why not.

Just ordered an intercooler, because this pig needs more power! 
Was driving it around Saturday and attempted to get up to highway speed, and it was painful. I don't have a tach (yet) and wasn't WOT so I guess there may be more in it, but holy crap was it crawling along. 

It was fun snapping necks during accel, black smoke coming from the hood. 

To do list. 
-Tach
-Oil Temp gauge (ordered)
-Intercooler (pipe routing unsure)
-Crank case breather to intake filter

I find to do lists amusing, as this car will never be "done".

Same. I need lists otherwise I forget what I need to do though.

Of little or no surprise it didn't want to start last night. Took a look in the fuel tank.
It cranked over fine but was puffing blackish smoke and not running, so I know it wont work in -5 degree weather now.

Would  ya look at that?

Pulled it with the E90 so I could move it inside and warm it up to get it running, which took a bit. But it started after a bit of heat from the shop and a hairdryer and the block heater.

I bought a flapper for the exhaust yesterday, but realized that the pipe isn't long enough for proper function, and then I won't be able to open the hood. So that is going to sit on the shelf until I return it. 

I started hacking apart a spare E harness to use the crank sensors and ecu to get a tach signal back in my life. I think I'm going to need to switch flywheels due to a key that is on the E flywheel that isn't on the E46 one. That will also fix my weird feeling clutch so it would be nice, but a lot of work.

I haven't researched it at all, but I would think you'd be able to get a tach signal from a Hall effect sensor, without the need for an ECU.

Yeah there is a lot of conflicting info on the interwebs about what is needed. 
The early clusters do not have coding plugs, so either the ECU is putting out a preconditioned signal, or it is just a pass-through. 

Going to try the more complicated way first just to see if I can use the E46 flywheel, because the tach used to work just fine. 
I can also find what type of signal the ECU is putting out.

Are you treating your fuel? Diesel 911 would have done its magic but warming it up inside is better.

I had anti gel additive in the winterized diesel, as well as a standard additive.

Both of them are from the Diesel 911 mfg.

Cardboard was largely clean before sliding it under the car, and this is what it looks like after 3-4 days.

Understandable point of pride. Impalas go faster when they dont have all that pesky coolant to haul around and pump

I want to lower the front subframe a good bit (1" or more) but am sitting here debating what to do about the control arm bushing brackets, do I bring those down with? I don't enjoy the idea of that too much as their positioning is key to other geometry things, but I don't know if leaving them in the stock spot would be a good idea either...

I finally have a fully functional blower motor! Replaced the resistor for it last night and now I have all fan speeds!

Got a cheap intercooler

Tried to track down my coolant leak, but I had waited too long so everything appeared to be dry. Judging by where it had drained I am kind of wondering if the heater core itself is leaking. Going to spend a bit more time on that one. 

I had been getting a fair bit of oil leaking when parked, from weird areas, and yesterday realized why. 
The crankcase vent has some sort of oil separator and I underestimated how much oil that would move. The stock setup has the oil drain line going into the oil pan below oil level, and I think I'm going to take that hose and feed it into the dipstick tube (add a tube) or see if there is somewhere on the e30 pan I can plumb it into. 

Large hose feeds over to the air filter as there is plenty of smoke that comes off that. 

I don't know if this has been seen in any of my pictures before. It's an Factory Five cobra rep. It's been amusing watching it go from a bare frame to where it is now.

That Cobra is cool. IDK if that would be my choice if I was going to build a F5 car, but all those kits are sweet no matter what they are. Its so temping too as you can build one for roughly$10K starting. 

I was able to clean that fan switch on my car. But I am cheap so im sure it will fail again.

I'm leaking fluids like they are going out of style.....

It looks like the heater core is leaking, and it is leaking enough to drain the expansion tank in a day or two. Gotta replace that.

I increased the fuel amount, and now the low pressure return on injector 6 is leaking a lot more than before. Gotta fix that.

I'm leaking oil out of the crankcase breather/separator. Gonna tap the return from that into the pan (like OE setup)

Adding more fuel was very amusing. Simple turn of a screw and now it is substantially faster. It also makes me want a different/new/bigger turbo knowing that the current one has compressor wheel wear and is likely less efficient than it should be.  
I took it out for a hot second last night, and I have more torque than traction down low, which is kind of a fun problem to have.
