yeah, i love his mentality on racing, too - I have always felt it is a pure form of competition. At the race track, it doesn't matter if you make more money than someone, or if you are more politically connected than someone, doesn't matter what your opinion is about anything - might and skill make right on the race track, and you can't just buy your way into that. 

On the race track, if I'm better than you, you can't do anything to stop that or circumvent it and still get ahead. You lose. 

In that way it is opposite of much of real modern Western society. 

I like race tracks.   and pie.
