The Snake was awesome. If you can dream it, you can do it.

Nice work with the oil pan! Glad you had a spare. How many spare e21 hazard switches did you bring? :P

From what I hear, even the brand new one have a tendancy to break if you sneeze too loud.

Stayed at Dennis Cove last night and hiked the trail this morning. Cool creek crossings amd waterfalls. Chalenging enough hike for me. Nice spot for a day trip.

If anyone knows any good travel destinations between Tennessee and Colorado, I'm all ears. Haven't planned anything yet for that part of the trip.

I can't think of anything that would be of any interest to anyone going through Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri or Kansas on your way to Colorado.  You could always detour down to New Orleans or hit up Austin but they're both big ass detours.

I was thinking about doing exactly that. I like your style Pat.

Found some nice twisties on hwy 221 heading west out of Blowing Rock, NC.

Currently I'm stuck in a tourist trap called Maggie Valley in the Smokey Mountains, and it's rainning pretty hard. Looks like this will probably be my first hotels stay of the trip. I need a shower...

I was going to recommend hitting up Lynchburg, TN and visiting the Jack Daniels distillery then heading back into Kentucky and visiting Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, Bulleit, Makers Mark and Jim Beam bourbon distilleries but that's not really "on the way" to Colorado and heading back into Kentucky is definitely back tracking... and I didn't want to look like an alcoholic.

A trip about finding yourself.....and finding booze!!

Drove from Chicago to Colorado as a kid. Pretty boring ride.

The worlds largest truck stop is on 80 just into Iowa from Illinois.

Missouri is pretty scenic. Drove thru on my way to Az a couple years ago.

I ate at that "Iowa 80" truck stop a year ago. I cant help but think that all the truck drivers get so excited to stop there.

Giving credit where credit is due: its probably the coolest place in Iowa

Dubuque isn't a bad town.  There's a great burger place there called Lot One that has bison burgers and a decent beer selection right downtown.  Other than that, Iowas sucks.

Davenport has a cool skatepark but the rest of Iowa is pretty awful.

Tail of the dragon was epic. Best road I've ever driven. This little car is a real hoot when you start blasting through turns at 5000 rpms in 2nd gear.

News flash! The southern United Stated is hot in the summertime.

Spent a night in Alabama (hot), New Orleans (hot), Texas (hot). Sunburt on the left side, dehydrated, and bored with the scenery and roads, I passed into New Mexico (hot) and found a campsite. As soon as the sun started to go down a strong wind came through and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees. It was amazing. I sat up and watched a huge thunderstorm way off on the horizon, and then stared at the stars for a while. I'd say it was the best night of camping of the whole trip.

                                  IMG20150810064329957zpsp6vt3sll.jpg

After that I headed up to Denver. I hit a couple mountain passes on the way, and the scenery was nice, but I didn't find anything I liked as much as back east.

                                  IMG20150810081600407zps75rhij57.jpg

Just hangin out for now. Haven't decided whether I'm going to stay here, go back to Wisconsin, or try my luck farther west...

It's been great. I think once I'm working again, I'll build a turbo engine for it. The engine that's in there now does the job, but I'd like to build one the right way. There are some other minor issues that need attention, but overall I have no complaints. It's served me well so far. Fun to drive as always.

If you haven't been out to Wyoming if suggest taking a trip to Yellowstone and camp out there. Your're kinda stuck at a point where things are boring driving wise in every direction.
