IACV?
-
Have a weird issue toing on with my E30 325i. Put a new IACV in it about three weeks ago. The car generally idles a lot better than with the old one, but lately I've had the following: Car idles like crap first start up unless I step on the gas and up the revs a little and hold it there for about 30 seconds. Then it settles down and runs great for the rest of the day, save for an occasional hiccup. Hiccup is the best way I can describe it. There's no rhyme or reason to it. It's as though the engine stops running for just an instant and then it's fine.I It doesn't matter if I'm on the highway, driving at town speeds, or stopped at a stop sign. Outside of that, the engine purrs like a kitten and the car drives normally.
IACV issue or something else?

too rich.
#1 test to make sure your throttle switch is working properly
#2 check the coolant temp sensor for proper resistance
#3 check for leaking fuel injectors. i have had leaky injectors before. First start of the day is rough (accumulated fuel in the cylinders) the rest of the day is fine

When the hiccup happens does the tach flicker downward? Mine did that and the outer shielding was damaged on the crank position sensor. If the tach doesn't momentarily drop then carry on. The CPS controls spark and feeds the tach.
Nope. Tach doesn't budge. Thanks though.
