Hey-New guy
-
Yeah it really blows. Pics aren't the best, and that front passenger door is way more dented in than the pics. Oh yeah, and you can tell they somehow got the wheels as well. I'm headed back to my apartment to see if I can get the security footage from the parking lot I'm in. The guy has a monstrosity of a mix-matched colored dodge ram...that he feels the need to back in to his spot. Just by looking at the truck I feel he doesn't have insurance. He also has a shitty 90's trans am which he backs in too. Which was also crossing over into my spot last night (This guy seems like a real winner). His truck has also been MIA the entire week which makes me think he is hiding the vehicle/getting it touched up. I assume they can always test the paint transfer on my car to see the make/model of whomever hit me.
My biggest fear at this point is that the work may exceed the current value of the car. If they do that, then I'll have spent the money getting my additional parts painted for nothing.. Ugh!

I feel a small rant coming on...
holy fuck. That's bad. Really bad, for being parked. Guarantee that shitfuck is hiding his truck out getting it touched up. I seriously hope there is security footage of your parking lot.
God I hate people. This is why I drive my car from my garage, to my private work parking structure, or to the track/shows, and that's about it. Parking in public places of any sort in the year 2015 is almost like blasphemy for me. I don't trust poor people and for good reason - they are careless with what little they do have, and by extension care absolutely nothing for the troubles they create for others when their carelessness negatively impacts people around them.
I hate people. This shit grinds my gears a lot. Probably because I work my ass off and own a bunch of properties so I have a high sense of ownership/responsibility in life and cannot relate to the notion of not taking accountability for one's actions.

Seeing stuff like this makes me angry.
Wibimmers west side story shit coming on. I can feel it in my plums.

Alright, so he hasn't been back yet. His Trans Am was there one day, otherwise no one has been next to me all weekend. Insurance claim was filed and should be getting it looked at today/tomorrow. To add insult to injury, I took off work early on Friday to speak with my apartment manager and he informed me there is currently no DVR system in place and the cameras are inactive in the parking lot/building as a whole (makes me feel REAAAAAALLY safe), so I can't even prove it was him unless insurance makes me fill out a police report/checks the paint. And I'm not saying backing in your car makes you a douchebag, backing in your car and not knowing how park said vehicle makes you a douchebag. The lines in my lot are all even with each other and if you can line your car up with someone else, then maybe you shouldn't park like that.
Here is a pic of the Trans AM. Granted he's still "in his spot" he's still can't park that well. Whenever the truck is there, I have to back out to have my passenger get in because they can't open the door due to his amazing parking skills.

Going in for my estimate today.
-
Ok, car is again not back, but now there is an Impala parked in its place (still parking like an asshole). I got my estimate, but since I financed my car, they put the bank's name on the check as well- Does anyone know if I can deposit this directly into my own account or is this going straight to who I financed with?
-
for sure, check the impala for bar code stickers

Impala has been MIA and so has the truck.... Part of me is thinking he up and moved. I asked someone at the building if they have seen the car (this person kinda helps in the leasing office/homebody/weird ) and she said they haven't seen the truck and that they think the lease ended this month. Office Manager said to have my insurance company contact him and he'll approach the guy, if he's there. If not, I do have the truck's license plate information. Any suggestions on how to proceed or say f it and just get stuff fixed?
-
personally I'd just have my insurance take care of it. Toss them his license plate info and let them do what they want with it. Your rates may not even go up. If they do, it would probably not be a lot. You have to look at what your time and hassle is worth to try and track this guy down and prove he's to blame, compared to how much your rates might go up if you go through with your current claim. Personally, I can say that when I crashed my last 135, I totaled the fuck out of it, and my insurance went up like, 20 bucks a month. That was way more monetary damage than what you're talking about here. I'd be surprised if you even saw a 10 dollar/mo rate hike due to something like this. Your deductible is the other consideration but I assume you have a normal 250-500 or so like the rest of us. My time is worth 100 bucks an hour currently, so I weigh that pretty heavily - when things don't quite go the way I want them to, I always ask myself "is it even worth my time?"

I go to have my car dropped off yesterday and of course they forgot to get me a rental car so I had to go to work then leave work early to go back to the damn shop. They said at least a week (kinda figured as much). Hoping it comes out good.
-
where did you take the car? Black is a hard color to blend and match properly.
-
I took it to ABRA. My sister- her boyfriend's Dad is the Service head over at a Range Rover dealership and they use this shop and he made a call over there for me. Hoping it works out.
-
Which Abra? My buddy works at the New Berlin location amd they do great work.
-
yea i've had work done at Delafield abra on my bmw and was very happy. I had to fight the service lady to get her out of my car, though.
-
I took it to the one in Cudahy- hoping it is as good as your experiences in Delafield/New Berlin. they should be calling me today with an update. I don't think I'll be getting it back for at least another week tho.

Work looks great. Wouldn't ever be able to tell. However it looks like there is black paint? Maybe some sort of sealant on the windows?
